Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 462

Speaking of Alvin, the poor boy had a rather unfortunate start in life.

His birth timing was all wrong—he wasn't the firstborn grandson, yet he arrived too close to the birth of Lucian, the great-grandson who held that honor. That alone made him somewhat overlooked from the very beginning.

But the real issue was his mother, Beverly.

The scandalous things she had done in the past were still fresh in the mind of Old Mr. Stone, a man of rigid principles. Beverly's indiscretions had left a lasting stain, and even though Alvin was undeniably a member of the Stone Family by blood, confirmed by the DNA test the old man had demanded the moment the boy was born, Old Mr. Stone couldn't shake his lingering suspicion.

The test proved Alvin was indeed a member of the Stone Family.

Yet the old man still didn’t care for him.

And that was why Alvin now found himself in such an awkward position.

Gwen sighed. Though her heart fluttered with unease, she still carried Alvin over to the old Mrs. Stone. She glanced first at the two little ones playing happily beside the elderly woman before offering a warm smile. "Grandmother, Alvin missed you, so I brought him to see you." She paused, then added, "Kevin and Carson have grown so quickly! Just a few months, and they're already so big. Look at how handsome they are—they’ll surely grow up to be every bit as dashing as their father."

The old lady preened at the compliment.

"Of course," she chuckled. "These three great-grandsons of mine will all outshine their fathers. After all, that girl, Ariana, is quite the beauty herself."

The implication was clear—thank heavens Lambert hadn’t inherited Jolene’s genes, or else he might not have turned out so handsome.

The remark instantly put Gwen in an awkward spot.

She silently thanked her lucky stars that her third aunt wasn’t present—otherwise, the situation would have been unbearable.

Truth be told, Jolene wasn’t unattractive. But her bearing couldn’t compare to that of a well-bred socialite raised with meticulous care. And on top of that, her own son had thrown away his future for this daughter-in-law—what mother wouldn’t resent that?

Gwen steered the conversation elsewhere. "Little Luci has been studying hard lately. When I saw him the other day, he was so diligent—nothing like his father. If anything, he takes more after Third Uncle."

It must be said that Gwen had a way with words. Her remark once again delighted the old lady.

After all, in the old lady's heart, her youngest son would always come first. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were secondary.

So when she heard her granddaughter-in-law's words, the smile in Old Mrs. Stone's eyes deepened. She shook her head with an amused chuckle and said, "He really does take after him. Lambert was nothing like this well-behaved and quiet when he was little. That little rascal was downright unruly—always getting into trouble. And when he grew up? A real ladies' man. Thank goodness he settled down after marriage. Otherwise, we'd have had our hands full."

As she spoke, Old Mrs. Stone silently resolved to keep her great-grandson away from that troublemaker Lambert.

If the boys ended up just like him, she’d be beside herself with frustration.

Meanwhile, the conversation between Gwen and Old Mrs. Stone was going splendidly. In Gwen’s arms, Alvin remained quiet, his wide eyes blinking nervously as he studied the old lady with curiosity.

The sight softened Old Mrs. Stone’s heart just a little.

She beckoned for Gwen to bring the child closer.

Overjoyed, Gwen immediately handed Alvin over. The boy was visibly tense—even as he stood before the old lady, his tiny fingers still clung to Gwen’s sleeve. Gwen grew anxious, worried that Alvin’s timidity might displease the old lady. Though she had only taken him in out of necessity, she had genuinely grown fond of him during their time together.

She could only hope this poor child would earn the old couple’s sympathy. Without the support of the Stone family’s patriarch and matriarch, his future would be fraught with hardship.
