Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 463

In the following days, Gwen continued to bring Alvin to visit Old Mrs. Stone.

Upon learning this, Beverly was finally satisfied.

She thought to herself, 'This Gwen might be a bit dim, but at least she gets things done.' What she didn’t realize, however, was that others had already seen through her scheme—and were quietly laying another trap right on top of hers.

At this point, it was hard to tell who was the hunter and who was the prey.

Meanwhile, on the other side...

Fanny still visited the Castro household every other day. Gradually, what had started as a reluctant obligation turned into a routine.

Mrs. Castro, too, began to think highly of Fanny.

At first, she had only considered the girl a suitable match in terms of family background. Fanny was, after all, a well-educated socialite, a fitting companion for Damon. But as time passed, Mrs. Castro noticed something different about her. Unlike the prim and proper young ladies of high society, Fanny had a livelier, more spirited personality.

Most aristocratic families might have frowned upon such traits, preferring demure and composed brides.

But Damon was already the epitome of steadiness. A wife who was a little more playful, a little more prone to laughter, might just bring some much-needed color into his life.

And as it turned out, Mrs. Castro’s instincts were right.

Without even realizing it, Damon’s gaze had begun to follow Fanny more and more.

Truth be told, he had noticed her long ago, back in their childhood. But back then, his attention hadn’t been the kindest. It had been laced with resentment. When Fanny once called him a bastard, he had kept a straight face, but the insult had seared into his memory. If not for the fact that she later spent an entire month apologizing out of guilt...

Perhaps Fanny wouldn’t be able to live her carefree, cheerful life so blissfully today.

Damon wasn't as vindictive as one might imagine.

...

Over in the study, Fanny sat cross-legged on the carpet with Lucian, surrounded by piles of books—some in front of the little boy, some in front of her.

This was a public study, open to anyone who wished to browse its extensive collection. It wasn’t a private space, which was precisely why Fanny had brought Lucian here to play. She understood basic courtesy—private studies were off-limits, especially in a household like this. Today, she had only brought Lucian along because Ariana had been too worried. Fanny’s carefree nature might lead to her accidentally losing one of the twins or letting them bump into something. After much hesitation, Ariana had reluctantly sacrificed her eldest son for the outing.

Luckily, Lucian didn’t mind spending time with Fanny, especially in an unfamiliar place. Children were naturally curious about new environments.

Fanny glanced at the books before turning to Lucian with a smile. "Luci, which book do you want to look at?" She knew the little boy had a fondness for books, though at his age, he mostly flipped through picture books. Still, it was rare for a child so young to show such interest!

Once again, Fanny thought proudly, 'My godson is truly exceptional. He’s bound to go far in life.'

Lucian pursed his lips in thought, tiny hands shuffling through the books until he spotted a fairytale collection with a mermaid illustration on the cover. He grabbed it eagerly. "This one!"

Fanny nodded, flipping it open. She noticed it had some text alongside the pictures.

After a moment’s consideration, she decided to let him browse while she narrated the story aloud.

So when Damon and Maxwell walked in, this was the scene that greeted them.

Maxwell let out a low whistle as he took in the sight, then remarked with amusement, "Who knew Fanny could actually be so... feminine?" He and Fanny had been close friends since childhood—classmates back in the day. Though they attended different universities, they'd kept in touch over the years.
