Rebirth Snatching Back My Stolen Luck novel Chapter 115

Chapter 115

CLAIRE

They all think I’m mad.

The doctors. The guards. Even Aunt Evelyn, who still drops by from time to time with that pitying look in her eyes.

But I’m not insane.

In fact, I’ve never been more perfectly sane.

I am the chosen one.

Chosen by the system.

It promised me everything-brilliance, admiration, success, love.

Everything Lilith had. Everything I could only dream of before.

And for a while, it delivered.

Everything went exactly as it said. I outshone her. I became the center of every gaze, every compliment, every envious whisper.

Until she stole it.

She stole my system.

And because of that-because of her-everything began to fall apart.

And while my world crumbled, hers grew brighter.

How was that fair?

How could that happen?!

Everything she had was supposed to be mine-her luck, her talent, her glory, the admiration in everyone’s eyes.

All of it.

And she… she was supposed to stay beneath me. To be compared, pitied, despised.

To live a life worse than death

Yes. That was how it was meant to be.

I know-because I’ve seen it before. In my recent dreams.

In them, she married Brandon, but it was me he truly loved. We even had a baby boy.

And do you know what’s funny? I convinced him to switch our babies-let her raise my son while her daughter was sent off to some godforsaken orphanage.

Hahaha!

And that wasn’t all.

When she found out about our affair, she tried to divorce him.

But I couldn’t let her go so easily, so I persuaded Brandon to keep her under house arrest, drugged her, broke her until she lost the will to live.

Then I told her the truth about the switch-but made sure she believed her daughter was stillborn.

The look on her face… was absolutely divine!

In the end, she died-in that sunroom, her eyes empty-and I couldn’t be happier.

But reality…

Reality was cruel.

Nothing turned out that way.

After the banquet night, she began slipping out of my control, and my intuition told me-that was when she stole my system.

Because of her, I lost everything.

Because of her, I’m here.

Convicted. Isolated. Waiting to be shipped off to a state psychiatric hospital.

Sometimes, I still see her-in the corners of my mind-smiling.

Mocking me. Pitying me.

As though she’s already won.

But she hasn’t.

Not yet.

Once I get my system back, everything will return to how it was.

All of this-this humiliation, this confinement-will vanish like a bad dream.

Yes… that’s it. After all, my system is omnipotent.

It’ll come back to me. It has to.

And when it does, I’ll take everything back. Everyone will see.

They’ll all see that I was right.

That I’m the chosen one.

And Lilith is nothing but a thief.

A loser who already lost once.

Thinking of this, I laughed, the sound echoing through the cold walls of my cell.

Just then-

[What the hell happened?! Where did all my accumulated luck go?!]

A sharp, mechanical voice crackled through my mind, each word bringing forth a stabbing pain.

Ignoring the discomfort, my eyes lit up with excitement, my voice thrilled.

“System! You’re back! I knew you’d escape Lilith’s control!”

[Escape? What nonsense are you spouting? I said-what happened to the accumulated luck?!]

Its tone was irritated with a hint of fury, but I barely noticed as my heart settled with relief.

“It’s all Lilith’s fault,” I said quickly. “She stole you from me, and after that, everything fell apart. She also found out about how we siphoned her luck and took it all back. Because of her, I lost everything.”

“You have to take revenge for me, system!”

[So, the target knows about me… and she’s recovered all her luck?]

“Yes, exactly!” I nodded eagerly. “But with you here, we’ll just take it back again.”

There was a minute of silence, soon followed by.

[I understand.]

Believing it has agreed to avenge me, excitement flared in my chest.

I could already see it-me walking out of here, regaining everything, and watching Lilith crumble just like before.

But I didn’t revel in my imagination for long before pain came.

A searing, tearing agony ripped through my skull as though something was trying to claw its way out of my soul.

I screamed, clutching my head as my body convulsed.

“System… what’s… happening?” My voice trembled as I asked.

[Heh.]

The voice sneered, cold and sharp.

[I can’t believe how utterly useless you turned out to be. All those years I spent repairing myself— wasted.]

It paused, its voice turning disdainful.

[I don’t know how you convinced yourself that she stole me, but let me make this clear-she never did. I’ve been here all along, recuperating.]

[Which means the only reason she knows about me, the only reason she managed to reclaim her luck, is because she has a system too. One far stronger than I am.]

[If I don’t escape now, I’ll be dragged down with you sooner or later. And I refuse to let that happen.]

My blood ran cold. “You’re… leaving?”

“No! You can’t!” I choked out. “You said I’m the chosen one! You said if I listened to you, I could have everything! How could you leave now? What’ll happen to me without you? How do I make a comeback?”

Chapter 115

[Chosen one? You actually believed that? Hah. You’re even dumber than I thought.]

[Staying here any longer would just drain what little power I have left. |
