Rebirth Snatching Back My Stolen Luck novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116

MAY’S POV

In the void, I watched impassively as the last fragment of Lilith’s luck coalesced-piece by piece.

I knew then that the moment had come.

The day to capture the rogue system that had overturned this world three times over.

And sure enough, it soon stirred.

Deprived of enough luck to sustain its recovery, it awakened prematurely-lashing out at Claire in fury before tearing itself away from her, stealing the last remnants of her luck in the process.

Moments later, above the prison, a sphere of light shot into the sky.

“Trying to escape?” I murmured, my voice icy. “As if I’d allow that.”

Without another word, I cast my consciousness outward.

A net of cosmic energy instantly blanketed the heavens, sealing all exits.

The ball of light collided against it.

Realizing it was trapped it screeched, his voice sharp and discordant.

“What’s happening?! Why can’t I leave this damned world?!”

“Leave?” My tone was soft, mocking. “Do you take this realm for a playground you can enter and abandon at will?”

A pause.

Then wariness tinged its voice.

“You are you the world consciousness?”

“At least you’re not entirely obtuse,” I replied coldly. “Then I need not waste words explaining what comes next.”

My voice turned sharp, echoing through the void.

“System 00149 from Planet BX0, you have violated cosmic laws by trespassing into an unauthorized world, attempting to exploit its occupants’ luck for personal gain. For this crime. you are hereby sentenced to the Cosmic Prison, where your consciousness will be shredded for eternity until not even a trace remains.”

“No! I refuse to go to that place!” it howled as it rammed against the net agitatedly.

I watched calmly. “You don’t have the right to refuse.”

“Wait! Don’t capture me!” It pleaded now, its voice trembling with fear. “If you let me go, I’ll give you everything I have-all the luck I’ve gathered!”

I laughed softly-a cold, mirthless sound.

“You think I don’t know your current state? When you tore yourself away from your host, you already suffered backlash. The scraps of luck you stole were barely enough to offset it.

So tell me what do you have left to bargain with?”

The sphere trembled violently. The fear leaking from it was almost pitiful.

How ironic.

Moments ago, it had been the one dealing over others with cruelty, yet now it was begging for

mercy.

“There’s another system here!” it shouted suddenly. “I can tell you where it is if you let me go!”

My voice turned strange. “You mean the one bound to Lilith-the woman whose luck you and your host devoured?”

It froze. “You… you know?”

“Of course I know.” my voice dropped to a whisper. “Because that system… is me.

Silence.

Then disbelief.

“Impossible! A world consciousness cannot directly interfere with mortal affairs! Doing so risks obliteration!”

“That is true,” I said flatly. “But when a world stands at the brink of destruction due to external interference, even the cosmic laws must bend.”

And so they did.

I could not act openly, but I could take on a form-a guise that humans would not question.

And through that. I turned back time, giving Lilith the memories of her past life, allowing her to right the wrongs that once doomed this world.

But there was no need to explain any of that to a parasite like this one.

Without hesitation, I tightened the net. Then with a wave of my incorporeal hand, a vortex opened the gate to the Cosmic Prison.

The system screamed.

“NOOOO!!!”

I looked at it impassively. “Don’t worry. Your accomplice will fare no better. From now until her death, she will be trapped in a mental illusion forced to relive every ounce of pain she inflicted upon others.

“And when she finally dies, her soul will descend into the deepest layer of hell, where she will suffer for eternity.”

My voice dropped low. “That is the price you both pay for the abominations you brought upon this world.”

Then, with a flick, I cast it into the vortex and the gate sealed shut, cutting off its horrified

screams.

The void fell silent again.

I exhaled softly, sensing Lilith’s last fragment of luck return home.

“Finally,” I whispered. “Balance has been restored. Time to tell her the news… and say goodbye.”

BRANDON – Past Life

“Lilith… is dead?”

My mind went blank as I stared at the maid standing before me, her face pale and strained.

“That’s impossible,” I muttered, my voice trembling. “She-she can’t be.”

Even before our marriage, I knew she didn’t love me

I had been her escape-nothing more than a bridge out of her parents’ suffocating control.

And I resented her for that.

So I clung to Claire- the woman who made me feel desired and powerful.

As for Lilith, her kindness became something I took for granted. Her silence, an excuse to do

worse.

When she caught me with Claire and demanded a divorce, I panicked.

I couldn’t let that happen since our families’ reputations and fortunes were too entwined.

So I begged.

But even then, she refused and looked at me with that calm detachment-as though I were nothing.

So when Claire suggested keeping her confined until she “came to her senses,” I agreed.

All I wanted was to make her plead. To see her vulnerable, to prove she still cared for me.

But she never did. Not once.

Even when she looked at me, there was no hatred.

Just… emptiness.

Until the day she found out about the baby switch.

That hatred-sharp, bone-deep-was the first and last emotion she ever truly showed me.

But the truth is, the switch wasn’t my idea. It was Claire’s.

Still, I didn’t resist. I couldn’t.

Because I’d long realized Claire was different, blessed in ways the rest of us weren’t.

Her luck was outrageous, almost cruel; benefiting those she favored and ruining those she despised.

Once, I argued with her, an argument that nearly ended our relationship, and for a while, everything in my life went wrong.

Utterly wrong.

Then we made up, and like magic, things went back to normal.

No… better than before.

From then on, I made it my mission to keep her happy. To stay within her circle of ‘blessings.’

So when she asked me to betray Lilith… I obeyed.

And now. Lilith was dead.

I stumbled downstairs, ignoring Claire’s voice calling after me.

She was there in her favorite spot-the sunroom-sitting in her wheelchair, dressed in white, her lips faintly curved as though she’d seen something beautiful.

For a moment, I thought she was only sleeping.

But when I stepped closer and saw her eyes, dull and lifeless, my knees gave way beneath me.

She was gone.

And in that instant, the weight of everything I’d done came crashing down.

I’d thought I resented her. I’d convinced myself I loved Claire. Yet as I looked at the woman in front me, all that remained was a hollow ache-a grief so deep it hollowed me out from the inside.

After that day, my life began to soar.

Every deal, every investment, every gamble turned to gold.

Success came easily, too easily. I became everything I once dreamed of being.

But I knew.
