Rebirth Snatching Back My Stolen Luck novel Chapter 34

Chapter 34

In fact, if I hadn’t lived through it once, I might not even be a match for him now.

And just as dangerously, I’d also overlooked what was truly at stake.

This wasn’t just about a broken engagement, but a billiondollar project.

The very deal that had scaled the CaldwellScott allianceand made Brandon the indisputable heir to his family’s legacy.

There’s no way he’d give that up.

So whether by hook or crook, Brandon would find a way to win me back.

Or at leastmake sure no one else could have me.

No wonder they say overconfidence kills.

If it weren’t for Deanhis presence and his timely reminderI might have walked into this meeting thinking I held all the cardsand unknowingly dug my own grave.

I made a quiet vow then: never mistake being reborn for being invincible. Or confuse foresight with superiority.

The world was full of smart people, what difference could one more make on her own?

Turning to him, I met his eyes. Okay. Let’s go together.

Walking into the rooftop café, Dean and I were greeted by the same waitress from yesterday.

She asked if we had a reservation, and I gave her Brandon’s name.

After checking her tablet, she nodded and led us in.

From afar, I spotted Brandon with his back turned to us, seated in the exact same spot Dean and I had taken yester- day.

Another coincidence?

I glanced at Dean, only to find him already looking at me, one brow raised with a flicker of darkness in passing through his eyes.

Same café. Same seat,he whispered. Still think this is nothing?

Of course not.

Brandon was clearly up to something. And I was about to find out what.

We know our way around,I told the hostess gently. You can leave us here.

Of course, she replied, offering a polite smile. Enjoy your time.

I sneaked a glance at Brandon. He hadn’t turned around once as we spoke, his attention appeared to be fixed on the

view.

But was it really?

As we approached, I intended to take the seat directly across from him, but Dean gently nudged me toward the one beside it.

You’re here,Brandon finally spoke, his gaze liftingnot to both of us, but to me alone. He acted as if Dean didn’t exist.

He didn’t look surprised to see him though.

Then I realized: from where he sat, he must have seen us arrivestepping out of the car, walking into the café.

So he’d had plenty of time to mentally prepare himself.

So,I said halfway through sitting. What did you want to talk about?

There’s no rush,he said smoothly. Why don’t you order something first? It’s already noon. You must be starving.

No need.I crossed my arms, leaning back with a casual air. Then glanced sideways at Dean. I already ate at his place.

Brandon paused, his fingers stilling on the coffee cup, before he slowly began tracing the rim.

You went to his place?he asked, his voice low and eyes locked on mine.

Yes,I said, lips curling into a slight smirk. He’s my fiancé now, after all. We figured we’d spend more time togeth- er. You knowto bond.

Then I glanced around. In fact, just yesterday, we came here and sat in these exact same seats. Interesting, don’t you

think?

on’t

He gave a small smile. You have to sound me out.

Someone told me they saw you here yesterday, so I figured you must like the place. That’s why I picked it for our

sawyou meeting.

As if I’d believe that, I thought, confidently rolling my eyes at him.

But if you’re uncomfortable, we can go somewhere else. What do you think?

No need,I replied, tilting my head. When you’re with someone whose very existence you literally detest, the place
