Who are you? What’s going on?

Emily paused while changing clothes and went to open the door.

Seeing the unfamiliar face at the door, she asked curiously.

“Hello, our boss just announced some new rules for the race. Thought you might be interested.”

The person responded respectfully to Emily’s question.

“Tell me more.”

Emily replied calmly, though she was puzzled. Why had this person come to her? Was it just a coincidence that they knocked on all the dressing rooms, or did they know she was a racer?

Did they know about her advice to Byron? Who was this boss, and was this boss a friend or foe?

“Well, our boss mentioned that some skilled racers are here today, so the prize money has been bumped up. The first–place winner will get twenty million dollars. He asked us to inform everyone.”

The person explained patiently.

Emily’s eyes lit up at the mention of “twenty million dollars.” It seemed it wasn’t targeted at her specifically; anyone interested could participate.

“A race, what about the car?”

“If you need a car, we can provide one. Do you want to register and use one of our cars?”

Suppressing her doubts, Emily thought it was impressive that the boss had anticipated this and made arrangements.

Emily tightened her grip on the door handle and lowered her gaze, contemplating whether to use their car. Racers usually know their own car’s performance best and can maximize its potential, so they typically don’t choose someone else’s car. But she didn’t have her car here.

She thought of Byron’s car. She had just given Byron some pointers, so she was somewhat familiar with it. But she quickly dismissed the idea.

“Have your colleagues already notified others? Are many people participating? How long until the race starts?”

Emily suddenly asked.

The staff member, though unsure of Emily’s intentions, answered truthfully, “Half an hour.”

That should be enough time.

Emily nodded, “Alright, no need to prepare a car. Do I need to register with my identity information? Can someone else register for me?”

If she used the name OS, she didn’t want to reveal her identity for now.

For some reason, this staff member was particularly accommodating, and almost all of Emily’s concerns were met with satisfactory

answers.

After the staff member left, Emily immediately called Knox.

She felt she owed him a lot of favors, but she didn’t mind asking for help again.

Knox’s eyes lit up when he saw Emily’s call.

“Emily, I thought you had forgotten about me.”

“Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten the meal I owe you. I’ll treat you to two meals if needed. But I need your help with something now.”

Emily was straightforward.

Anyone else might hesitate to ask Knox for favors, but Emily’s confidence was one of the reasons Knox admired her.

“Emily, you really don’t hold back! What do you need?”

“I need a race car, ready in half an hour.”

Emily spoke about needing a car as if it were a glass of water or a small toy.

“Getting a car is no problem, but I need to know what race you’re entering.”

He was curious that she was racing.

Emily kept surprising him, making his previously dull life exciting.

“There’s a race in the north part of the city today. I’ll send you the address. It starts in half an hour, with a prize of twenty million dollars. I’m planning to participate.”

Emily knew her identity wouldn’t be a secret to Knox, but she trusted him.

Knox’s eyes lit up, “Alright, I’ll arrange it.”

He didn’t mention that he planned to surprise her by showing up.

After hanging up with Knox, Emily called Byron.

“Ms. Johnson!”

Byron quickly came over.

“I’m planning to enter the race. Register me under the name QS.”

Emily said calmly.

Anyone who loved racing knew about the thrilling race a year ago. Emily was probably just eighteen at the time. QS had emerged out of nowhere, won the race, and then disappeared. Everyone had searched for QS, but no one thought to look for an eighteen–year–old girl–no wonder they couldn’t find her.

Besides YI, the king of racing, QS was Byron’s idol. Now that QS was Emily, he was ecstatic, almost losing his mind.

Emily’s ears hurt from his excitement. She slapped Byron’s head, “Calm down. Go register, and get me a helmet that covers my face.”

She didn’t want to reveal her identity yet, so covering her face was necessary.

“Alright, I’ll go now. Ms. Johnson, what car will you use? You can use mine!”

Byron quickly offered.

“No need, I’ve arranged for a car. It’ll be here soon.”
