“No, thanks. I didn’t do anything wrong!”
Emily’s voice was dripping with sarcasm as she watched the scene unfold.
James, who was helping Bianca, froze in his tracks.

He looked up at Emily with displeasure. “Is this really the time to be answering questions? Can’t you see Bianca isn’t feeling well? Emily, don’t be so cold–hearted!”
James was truly shameless, managing to say such things at a time like this.
You could never wake someone who was pretending to be asleep.
Emily had no intention of wasting more words on someone living in their own world.
“Emily, don’t be impulsive. Don’t say something you’ll regret!” Eli quickly intervened, trying to stop Emily from speaking to Kade and Yara, his voice filled with warning.
Yara, sensing what Emily was about to say, immediately chimed in, “Emily, say whatever you want. I’m here to support you.”
Eli, realizing the implication of Yara’s words, didn’t dare speak further and could only shoot Emily a warning look.
Emily ignored him. “Mr. Kade Smith, Mrs. Yara Smith, I’ve made up my mind. Let’s call off the engagement. You can see for yourselves, James cares a lot about Bianca.”
“Emily, don’t be so immature. I’m taking care of Bianca because she’s not well, and it’s all for your sake!” James’s face darkened as he scolded her coldly.
“I think the one being immature is you!”
At that moment, a cool, indifferent voice came from the doorway, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Daniel, what brings you here? I didn’t know you were coming today, or I would have met you at the door!” Kade quickly recovered, smiling ingratiatingly as he approached.
Eli hurriedly followed suit, “Mr. Daniel, it’s an honor to see you here.”
Daniel gave a slight nod to both of them, acknowledging their greetings, but his gaze casually fell on Emily.
Seeing her calm expression and no signs of distress, he assumed she hadn’t been wronged.
Daniel’s eyes then landed on James. “It seems you still don’t understand human language. Someone like you is probably not suited to handle important projects.”
James’s heart sank at Daniel’s words. One sentence from him could undo all his hard work. This couldn’t happen.
Despite his resentment, James bit his lip, knowing he had to prioritize his interests. He lowered his head and respectfully apologized,

Chapter 133
“Daniel, I’m sorry. I just don’t want Emily to regret her decision. If she breaks off the engagement, she might end up with nothing. I’m doing this for her own good.”
24
“End up with nothing? Daniel’s eyes held a hint of mockery. “If you’re so worried about her having nothing, why not transfer five percent of your shares to her? That should resolve the issue nicely.”
“No way! Yara panicked.
She had worked hard to secure twenty percent of Ascend Global Group’s shares for James, and they had already been tricked into giving Emily five percent. Another five percent would mean ten percent in total.
The thought of someone she looked down on being on equal footing with James was infuriating.
Daniel’s cold gaze turned to Kade. “It seems there are too many decision–makers in your family. Who should I listen to? I’m very busy, so maybe I shouldn’t listen to any of you.”
Ascend Global Group relied on the Smith Group. If word got out, Ascend Global Group would suffer greatly.
Kade immediately glared at Yara. “Shut up. Since Daniel has spoken, James should compensate. I also think a house isn’t enough. Five percent of the shares for Emily is fair.”
Emily hadn’t expected Daniel to show up, and it seemed he was there to support her.
Her heart raced.
Hearing she could get five percent of the shares, her eyes lit up.
“Thank you for your kindness. I’m willing to end the engagement, so I hope we can part on good terms. James, what do you think?”
Emily looked deeply at James.
Daniel also turned his gaze to James.
Their identical looks made James think they were a perfect match.
But the thought of Daniel taking his woman and being powerless to stop it made his face contort with anger, and he was unable to speak for a long time.
Kade’s face darkened, and he slapped the back of James’s head. “What are you standing there for? Answer him.”
James felt humiliated, but the pain brought him back to his senses.
He lowered his head and reluctantly replied, “Of course, we’ll part on good terms. From now on, you’ll be like a sister to me.”
Eli didn’t dare say a word, his sharp eyes darting between Emily and Daniel, trying to figure out if Daniel liked Emily.
If he had known she was still useful, he wouldn’t have been so quick to announce their estrangement.
But Daniel was always busy, so he probably hadn’t seen the online announcement. He’d have the responsible person hide it as soon as he
got back.

Chapter 133
Emily had no interest in being anyone’s sister.
After all, wasn’t Bianca supposed to be James’s sister?
24
“No need for that. Let’s just be strangers from now on. With Mr. Smith as a witness, I’m sure you won’t forget the five percent shares. Now that the engagement is settled, I’ll be leaving.”
Emily reminded them about the shares, fearing someone might try to back out.
With Daniel as a witness, no one from the Smith family would dare deny it.
Having gotten what she wanted, Emily saw no reason to stay.
James realized that Emily’s parting reminder about the shares showed she cared nothing for him.
