“Dean, either you get the money from this girl–she’s my niece and lives in a mansion–or you take my wife and daughter. I don’t have any money!” Rhett said with a sycophantic smile, but his words were shameless.

Dean squinted at Emily with a smile. “Your uncle…”

“Uncle–in–law!” Rhett corrected quickly.

“You heard what Rhett said. What’s your take on this?” Dean asked Emily.

Emily replied calmly, “Whoever owes you money, you go after him. I won’t pay, and you can’t take Sofia, Violette, or Atticus to settle the debt.

Dean laughed in exasperation, then suddenly stopped and smashed a stick onto the nearby table, making a loud noise. “Do you think I’m joking with you?”

“I brought them back for you. How is that a joke? Emily responded, unfazed.

Dean was impressed by her courage. “Bringing them back is useless. I need the money. Today, either you settle the debt yourself, and I’m giving you a discount because I like you, or you’re not worth $550,000!”

“No, no! Take the house, mortgage it. If that doesn’t work, I’ll sell everything I have to pay!” Violette said urgently, stepping in front of Emily.

Emily’s eyes flickered. Despite being terrified, Violette still stood in front of her. Violette hadn’t let her down.

Rhett immediately pulled Violette away. “What are you doing? You are considering Emily. What about Atticus, my mother, and me? Without the house, where will we live? Besides, the house isn’t worth much. She alone can make life better for all of us. It’s a great deal.”

“You scoundrel! That’s my niece. I won’t let her pay your debt. You should be the one to settle it, even if it costs your life!” Violette

retorted fiercely.

Rhett, having been scolded by Emily all day, raised his hand to hit her.

“Enough. I’m not here to listen to you argue, Dean said, glaring at Rhett.

Rhett immediately quieted down.

Dean turned back to Emily with a smile. “Let’s go. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you.”

His eyes grew more lecherous, as if he wanted to strip Emily with his gaze.

Emily frowned and mentioned a name, “Have you heard of Alfonso Carr? If you listen to me today and go after the right person, we can be friends. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”

Dean’s expression changed at the mention of Alfonso’s name. He hesitated, then scrutinized Emily carefully. “Alright, let’s be friends today…”

Emily remained silent, calmly meeting Dean’s gaze. The atmosphere grew tense.

Dean was surprised by Emily’s strong presence despite her young age. He had dealt with many people over the years and could usually tell a lot about them.

Finally, he waved his hand. “You can go.”

Emily relaxed her grip on the silver needle in her pocket and said, “Please wait outside with your men. I’ll invite you for a meal later to thank you. I need to handle some family matters first.”

Throughout the entire exchange, Emily seemed to be in control of the situation.

Dean realized this belatedly and couldn’t help but laugh. He wasn’t angry and actually called his men to leave.

Only a few people remained inside.

“Emily, do you think you can fool Dean? Just wait, you’ll be crying soon!” Rhett threatened.

Emily guessed his confidence came from the message he had sent to his lover.

“Violette, if I told you to divorce Rhett, would you?” Emily asked suddenly, ignoring Rhett.

Violette was stunned by the unexpected question.

Atticus, who had been silent, spoke up, “Mom, I support you divorcing him.”

“You brat! What did you say? Supporting your mom’s divorce? Do you want to die?” Rhett yelled, moving to hit Atticus.

Fallon intervened, “Stop it. He’s your son, your future caretaker. Don’t hurt him. If you want to blame someone, blame Violette for raising Atticus poorly.”

Violette felt a chill as she looked at Fallon, who always made things difficult for her, and Rhett, who seemed to want to kill her.

“I… I want a divorce, but what about Atticus and Sofia?” Violette said, her voice trembling.

“Mom, don’t worry about me. I’m an adult now,” Atticus said.

“Yes, I’ll be an adult soon. You don’t need to worry about us,” Sofia added.

Rhett was shocked that Atticus and Sofia were defending Violette. His face darkened. “Even if you’re adults, you’re still my children. If I owe money, you have to pay. You can’t escape me.”

“You scoundrel! Do you want to drag Atticus and Sofia down with you?” Violette shouted, furious.

Emily stepped in, “I can help you pay off the debt…”

“I knew it…” Rhett started.
