“Emily, seriously, just stop messing up, we…”

“Hello, I need to report a break–in. Someones trespassed and wrecked my place!

Emily didn’t let James finish. She whipped out her phone and dialed 911.

James’s face darkened at her words. “Emily, what the hell are you doing?”

That was all that he could do–nothing but words.

“Shut up!”

Annoyed by his interruption, Emily suddenly jabbed him with a silver needle, making him lose his voice temporarily.

After giving the dispatcher her home address and James’s location, she ended the call.

James felt the sharp sting and tried to speak, but no words came out. He stared at Emily in disbelief, instinctively reaching to touch the spot where she had jabbed him, silently questioning what she had done.

Emily warned him, “That needle hit a pressure point. Don’t touch it, or you might end up paralyzed. And that would be tough to fix, especially since you think I’m not skilled enough.”

James didn’t dare move, his eyes burning with anger, looking like they might explode.

Emily then removed the needle. “There! You made me do it. Couldn’t you just stay quiet while I made the call?”

James’s expression was complex, his eyes cold as he looked at her. “I didn’t expect you to use the skills you learned from Floyd on me. You’re really ruthless!”

Emily shrugged helplessly. “It’s not my fault. You act like you don’t understand plain English!”

“I think you’re losing it right now. I’m not gonna argue with you and make it worse!” James said, preparing to leave.

“Hold on, you heard me. I called the cops. You can’t leave just yet!”

“And what if I insist on leaving?”

James’s voice was cold and firm.

At that moment, the previously closed villa door opened again.

York appeared. “Ms. Johnson, is there anything I can help you with?”

It was perfectly timed–almost too perfect.

James’s face turned ugly.

And it was Daniel’s direct order.

James had overestimated himself.

With Daniel’s status, the security was top–notch. He had been waiting near the door, fully aware of the situation.

York had reported it to him.

Daniel had instructed to keep an eye on things, wanting to see what James would do.

When Emily made the call, Daniel had watched the scene unfold on the monitor, laughing softly, “Interesting! York, go help her out.”

Thus, York’s timely appearance.

Emily’s smile deepened at York’s arrival. “Please keep an eye on James until the police get here.”

“And this, please hand it over to the police.”

Emily handed York a recording of James admitting he had entered her house.

“Emily, you’re shameless!” James shouted, trembling with anger.

Emily ignored him and said to York, “Thank you.”

She then walked past James without looking at him.

If it were someone else, James might have dared to force his way out.

But this was York, Daniel’s trusted aide, representing Daniel’s authority and reputation.

Seeing Emily’s unyielding back, James felt defeated, squatting down in frustration.

York sighed softly.

He secretly gave Emily a thumbs–up, admiring her.

After returning, Emily chatted with Violette for a while.

Then she went to her room to wash up.

Lying in bed after washing up, Emily noticed the marked date on her calendar, remembering she was soon to participate in the Emberfall City medical competition. She had almost forgotten about it.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was Daniel calling.

Emily sat up straight, het attitude respectful. Mr. Smith, is there something you need?

Could it be that his health had taken a turn?

Someone like him wouldn’t call her without a reason.

“James has been taken to the police station.”

Daniel’s cool voice came through the phone, magnetic and alluring.

Emily immediately thanked him. “Mr. Smith, I’m sorry if I caused any trouble for the Smith family.”

She had acted out of frustration, wanting James to realize his actions were misguided.

But now she realized Daniel was also part of the Smith family, and his priority was to protect the family’s interests.

Daniel’s lips curled into a lazy smile. “Isn’t it a bit late to ask that now? He doesn’t pose a threat to the Smith family. Letting him face some consequences is necessary.”

He didn’t blame her; instead, he supported her actions.

Emily felt grateful.

“By the way, Mr. Smith, I’m going to Emberfall City tomorrow for a competition, so I won’t be able to prepare your medicinal meals.”

Emily thought it would be better to offer him more detox pills and health remedies after the competition, rather than just thanking him.

So she changed the subject.

Daniel’s eyes darkened briefly before returning to their calm state. “Alright.”

“Then, Mr. Smith, have a good night. Sleep well!”

Emily was pleased he wasn’t angry, and sweetly wished him goodnight.

Daniel’s “goodnight” lingered in his throat but didn’t come out.

But the smile on his lips was hard to suppress.

“York!”

When York entered, Daniel had already composed himself, returning to his usual indifferent demeanor.

“Mr. Smith!”

“Check what competitions are happening in Emberfall City these days,” Daniel said in a deep voice.

As an assistant and bodyguard, York had some knowledge of it.
