“Hey!”

Bianca was anxiously waiting for James.

After what felt like forever, James finally called. She picked up in a hurry, “James, are you here yet?”

James was sitting in the police station, feeling completely at a loss for words.

After a long pause, long enough for Bianca to sense something was wrong, she furrowed her brow and cautiously said, “James, if you’re busy, don’t worry about me. It’s okay if you can’t make it.”

James felt a bit of relief. His voice was raspy as he spoke, “Sorry, I’m at the police station right now. I need you to come and get me out, and bring a lawyer. I don’t want anyone else to know about this, just you and the lawyer. Can you do that, Bianca?”

Bianca was stunned. She never expected this. She had a hunch it might have something to do with Emily. But the fact that he called her and no one else showed he trusted her to some extent.

From James‘ voice, she could tell he was feeling defeated and vulnerable. This was a critical moment for her to step in.

Bianca’s heart softened, and she quickly reassured him, “James, don’t worry. come get you.”

She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, but she didn’t seem to notice the pain. Her expression grew more determined, as if she had made a decision.

She quickly contacted the lawyer and headed to the police station.

An hour later, Bianca picked up James, and they got into the car to head back. Her heart felt cold. She had been so worried about James these past few days, and yet he still had the energy to deal with that old house.

James is such a fool! What was there to miss about that place? How could she not compare to Emily, who only knew how to live a hard life?

Bianca’s face was gentle and considerate. “James, what Emily did was wrong. She probably just wanted to get your attention in an extreme way. I’ll talk to her later. For now, let’s just let it cool down, okay?”

James leaned back in his seat, rubbing his forehead, too tired to respond.

Bianca’s cool fingers gently touched his forehead. The cool sensation made James open his eyes and meet Bianca’s sympathetic gaze. He was about to sit up straight.

Bianca smiled warmly. “James, I know you’re feeling troubled and have a headache. Don’t move, let me massage it for you.”

The cool touch and gentle massage indeed eased his headache. James relaxed again, his frustration dissipating.

“If only Emily had a fraction of your gentleness, we wouldn’t be in this mess, James murmured. It wasn’t like the old days when they had to fight like wild animals just to survive.

Bianca’s hands paused for a moment, then continued. She spoke softly, “James, don’t say that in front of Emily. She has her own personality. If she hears it, she’ll probably hate me even more. By the way, I figured you wouldn’t want to go home tonight, so I booked a hotel suite for you to relax.”

James thought Bianca was incredibly thoughtful. He didn’t refuse her kindness.

Soon, they arrived at the hotel. Bianca personally got the room key and escorted him to the room. After James took a shower, Bianca knocked on his door again.

James, wrapped in a bathrobe with wet hair, opened the door.

Bianca held up a bottle of wine and gestured to the room service cart and waiter behind her. She smiled at him, “James, I thought you might need this. Can I come in?”

James‘ heart warmed at her smile. He couldn’t help but let her in.

Bianca stayed with James, drinking. Already in a bad mood, and with Bianca encouraging him to drink, James soon got drunk.

Bianca, who looked somewhat like Emily, blurred in his vision. He grabbed her hand, accusing, “Emily, you weren’t like this before. Why have you changed? Can’t you learn from Bianca? You’re not the same Emily who used to live on the street. Why can’t you change those habits? You’re embarrassing yourself and me!”

Bianca’s eyes flashed. She hadn’t expected James to think this way.

Tears welled up in her eyes. “James, you’re hurting me.”

James immediately let go. “I’m sorry, Emily. I didn’t mean to.”

Bianca quickly grabbed his hand again. “James, I don’t blame you. Don’t go!”

She leaned into his arms, her soft body pressing against him. Drunk, James felt his body heat up. Their breaths mingled.

The next morning, James was awakened by a scream. He opened his eyes to see Bianca’s bare skin. He quickly turned his head and closed his eyes. “I’m sorry…”

Seeing his reaction, Bianca realized he didn’t remember what had happened last night. She quickly got out of bed and dressed.

The rustling sounds helped James piece together what had happened. His face turned pale as he realized they had slept together. Memories of the night before started to surface.

James looked grim. He had mistaken Bianca for Emily. What would Emily think if she found out?

Lost in his thoughts, James didn’t notice the flash of resentment in Bianca’s eyes. The room was soon filled with the sound of her sobbing.

James was at a loss. “Bianca, I’m sorry. I was a jerk, drinking like that…”
