Aubrey’s POV

The lab fell silent for a moment. Then the only female medic in the group stepped forward and spoke first. “Ms. Mary, I’ll go with you. I don’t want my mother or my daughter catching. this virus someday.”
“I’m going too!” said a beta medic named Chen Yan. “I can’t betray the oath I swore. I’m willing to dedicate myself to the medical future of the Northern werewolves!”
“I’m in!”
“Me too!”
One after another, the rest of the medics voiced their support. In an instant, Waylon was completely isolated.
“You’re all insane…” he growled, glaring at the others.
I ignored him. I had no intention of using him anymore. A medic who only saw value in self- preservation wasn’t someone I could trust. Even if he changed his mind and asked to come, I wouldn’t let him. If anything went wrong out there, he’d be the first to run.
“Remember, I only have one requirement–Alpha Henry must live. And I truly believe we can crack this virus before he dies. If we succeed, I’ll make sure every ounce of fame and fortune you want is yours.”
When I said it, my voice was solemn–like I was declaring an oath.
The others were visibly stirred by my conviction, their morale lifted in an unspoken wave of determination.
Seeing their energy rally again, I gave a faint nod and tapped the tabletop with my fingers.
“Think about the Miguel family’s resources. Think about Alpha Henry’s power and status. Don’t be shortsighted. Becoming the person who saves Shadowmoon Pack’s alpha–and the leader of the entire Northern werewolf community–is worth more than any temporary paycheck.”
One tough push, followed by a sweet reward. Just like that, these senior medics were fired up. If they really could save Alpha Henry, it would be the opportunity of a lifetime.
I finally felt a bit of relief and began discussing pain suppression protocols with Ginnie.
Henry’s POV
I waved it off and didn’t go in, letting Perry push the wheelchair away.

I had come here to find Aubrey, but I ended up witnessing something else entirely.

Aubrey… she was far more capable than I’d ever imagined. I didn’t know whether I should feel proud or sad. I wanted to be someone she needed–not someone who needed her protection.
Her words echoed through my mind again and again. She said all she wanted was for me to live. And she truly believed she could make that happen. Compared to everyone else who secretly thought I was as good as dead, her unwavering faith warmed something deep inside
If before I couldn’t bear to die, now I couldn’t afford to.
No matter how painful it got, I had to keep holding on–for her. How could I let her down?
She was even willing to risk her life for me, heading into such a dangerous place…
“Lock Waylon up. Everything about me has to stay confidential. If he won’t cooperate, then we’ll just have to ‘inconvenience‘ him a little.”
Perry nodded. “Understood. I’ll handle it right away.
Xavier stood beside me, hesitating before he spoke. “Alpha, maybe I should be the one to lead the team. Let Ms. Mary stay behind.”
I rubbed my temples, already feeling a headache come on.
“I don’t even know when she started getting ideas like this.”
Xavier said, “I only found out today too… Ms. Mary really does care about you. I think even among fated mates, very few would go to the lengths she has.”
At that, I couldn’t help but smile faintly. Few? More like none. When disaster strikes, most wolves run for their lives. But not my Aubrey. She’s different.
Xavier sighed again.
“And that’s exactly why I don’t think she’ll back down. This is the only path that offers progress right now. But she’s still so young… If anything happened to her, it would be a tragedy. Let me go instead.”
I shook my head. “You’re too old. You can’t go. Cam will lead the team. Let Professor Winnie take command. As for Aubrey…/she’s absolutely not allowed to go.”
