If Ella thought of running away from him, he would lock her up again.
A bitter smile crept on Ella’s lips.
Maybe she expected too much from him, too soon.
That night, Ella did not see Adrian at the night table.
And even the next morning, the man was absent at the breakfast table.
Ella took a spoonful of oatmeal in her mouth, and her face scrunched up. She poured some more honey into it.
"Miss Yu, it will become too sweet—’’ Rin’s mouth zipped when Ella took another spoonful from the bowl.
Ella’s lips puckered. "Bitter..." she muttered.
Rin blinked. That bowl had enough honey to drown a beehive.
Ella grabbed an apple from the fruit basket.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Ella perked up a little.
Was Adrian... still here? She thought he had left last night.
However, when she turned around, her face fell a little.
"Secretary Ji..."
Ji Yan, who was descending the stairs with light footsteps, carrying a pile of files in his hands, nearly lost his footing when Ella called out to him.
"Miss Yu," Nevertheless, he turned to her enthusiastically.
As he walked to her, Ella placed the apple down on her plate, "Where..."
"Miss Yu?" Ji Yan was bewildered when the girl suddenly went silent.
After a few seconds, Ella opened her mouth, "Actually, there is something I need your permission for as I don’t know if it would be fine to do it..."
...
King Empires.
"Shishi and Rin work in Eve Mansion so it’s no trouble but Miss Yu wants to invite the other two ladies to the mansion for work purposes. She said it is too eye-catching in her apartment..." Ji Yan trailed off when he noticed the lost look on Adrian’s face.
The man had retreated into the secret room inside his office. As usual, the hidden room was enshrouded in darkness. Adrian sat on the bed like a bewitching ghost in a dungeon.
Adrian leaned back against the headboard of the board, his face was pale and one could see the veins on his neck popping whenever he tilted his face to the side.
One couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
"S-Second Master?"
Adrian did not look at Ji Yan, let alone bother replying. He sat there with the phone in his hand, his head slightly tilted.
"That’s all?" The man uttered two words, his voice came out rough.
"H-Huh? Yes, Yes, that’s all that Miss Yu said. She wanted permission to invite the other two ladies to the Eve Mansion," Not wanting to offend Adrian by making her wait any longer, Ji Yan agreed to it.
Suddenly, the temperature in the room dropped. A stormy wind stirred in the gloom.
Ji Yan’s legs trembled and his little heart jumped. Oh how wrong he was when he thought that these two would settle the matters peacefully this time!
If Ji Yan had to walk over the deadly thorns of their silences, then he would rather they have a war. At least, they could confront each other instead of tormenting his poor self.
"Second Master, we have to set out for Westra City tonight..." Ji Yan spoke in an attempt to distract the man.
