Even Ruby glanced at Ella with an incomprehensible gaze. She had never expected Ella to stand up for her against Esther.
In fact, there were a few things she had never brought up in front of Ella. Back in time, if not for Esther, then the misunderstandings between them would have never taken place.
Ruby knew it for a fact that Ella’s feelings for Esther would never be shaken by some of her accusations.
But looking at Ella today, Ruby was shocked even though her face did not betray much of an emotion.
Esther glanced at Ella who was standing there unflinching. Slowly, she turned to Ruby, "S-Sorry... I am sorry..."
Ruby looked at the girl nonchalantly.
"You were quite loud while insulting her just now. Try again."
Ella’s smiling voice ran on Esther’s heart like a piece of burning iron, corroding her flesh. After a moment, she opened her mouth, "I am sorry."
"That’s enough..." Ruby grabbed Ella’s hand just when the girl moved again.
Ruby had no soft spot for Esther who she knew wasn’t that sincere to Ella. But she knew that Ella cherished her little sister.
’Even if Ella is doing it for me, she would feel terrible for pushing Esther so far...’ Ruby thought.
And her thoughts were not far-fetched. Ella would have not even thought of raising her voice at Esther in her previous life, let alone scold her so much.
But Ruby did not know that to Ella, a lifetime had passed and this time, she was no longer deluded by the thoughts of sisterhood.
"Good girl. In the future, remember to respect your sister’s friends like this," Ella patted Esther’s shoulders.
Esther’s lips twitched. She could feel the burning stares of the servants on her. But in the end, she looked at Ella with a soft smile, "Yes, I was being insensitive about it... It’s good that you are here to teach me."
Esther stepped forward and hugged Ella, "Sis, let’s have some snacks together. I have brought a lot of things for you..."
Esther picked up the bags from the floor and walked off to the dining table. In a few minutes, she decorated the entire dining table with various delicacies, most of them being desserts.
"Sis, come over..." Esther urged Ella.
As Ella strode towards the dining table, Esther’s eyes lit up, "Here... Try this..." She passed a donut to Ella’s hand.
Ella took the donut from her hand and examined it closely, "You still remember my favorites..."
Esther held her breath, watching Ella move the donut to her mouth.
But at the last moment, Ella put it down on the plate.
Esther stiffened, ’’Sis...?"
"I was so enticed by the food that I forgot I was dieting."
...
"That bitch...!" Esther stood in the garden area of the Eve Mansion, her chest heaving.
She had put efforts into making sure that Ruby and Ella would never talk again. The misunderstandings between them ran so deep and Ruby even got engaged to Max.
Yet, Ella not only made peace with Ruby but she had invited her to Eve Mansion?
Last time, Ella even asked her not to come to Eve Mansion recklessly because it was an inconvenience to Adrian!
But now, she happily brought Ruby here and the servants treated Ruby with more respect than her. When has she ever been treated with such indifference?
’Woof’
Esther was startled.
When she moved, a small shadow flitted in front of her. Esther dodged to the side to avoid the attack.
’Woof woof woof’
Riri barked even more violently, aiming at Esther again.
Esther raised her leg, aiming a ruthless kick at the puppy.
However, at the last moment, she lost her balance. As sharp claws dug into her hands. "Ahh!"
Esther glanced at the kitten dangling from her hand.
"What’s happening here?"
At Ella’s voice, the two little animals huddled together, shaking slightly.
"Sis, where have you gotten these strays from..."
’Pak’
Esther’s face whipped to the side at the impact of the slap. After a moment, she slowly raised her head and looked at Ella with reddening eyes.
’Pak’
The second slap landed even more crisply, making Esther stagger.
