Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession novel Chapter 215

Chapter 215: She did not see him through rose-tinted glasses

The sky overhead was a perfect blue, dotted with cotton clouds and dappled sunlight.

The wind carried the sugary scent of cotton candy and roasted popcorn, even if there was no crowd, the place still pulsed with a quiet charm.

Usually, Ella would have disliked the empty place but for some reason, the lack of a rush or crowd put her heart at ease in the moment. Ella relished in the rare peace of the moment.

As they passed a carousel, Ella tilted her head and glanced at Adrian.

"Baby, have you ever been to an amusement park before?" she asked, swinging their linked hands slightly.

Adrian’s free hand trembled ever so slightly while his left hand remained firm in her hold, "No."

The smile on Ella’s face stiffened. "Never? You have never been to an amusement park..." She trailed off, realizing that she probably touched the wrong nerve.

However, Adrian did not seem to mind it much. There was not a single change in his expression as he nodded.

Ella was stumped for words.

She herself had rare memories of going to an amusement park with her family when she was young. But those memories had gone fuzzy in her mind and she barely had any recollection of it.

Due to that, in both her lifetimes, she had longed to revisit these places and relive these experiences.

Ella wanted to drop the topic but for some reason the face of a baby Adrian popped into her mind. She wondered... if little Adrian ever wanted to experience something like this too.

"Why is that?" Ella asked softly.

Her question made him pause for a moment as if he was genuinely reflecting upon her words. Then, after a few seconds, he said, "I was busy."

Ella fell silent.

Honestly, if these words came from someone else, then Ella would have called it a bluff.

But when Adrian said it, she just felt a faint pang in her chest, knowing that his words were nothing but the truth.

The Adrian King that the world knew was the epitome of perfection, the most ruthless and precise heir who controlled a huge Empire like it’s child’s play.

But probably because she stayed so close to him, Ella did not see him through rose-tinted glasses.

At this moment, it made her wonder that for Adrian to be this perfect at everything he deals with, what did Little Adrian have to give up on...?

The thought was rather depressing and Ella’s shoulders slumped a little.

"You don’t... like it here?" Adrian asked, sensing the abrupt change in her emotions.

Ella blinked, not knowing how to lay out her thoughts in front of him. She opened her mouth and then closed it.

At this moment, they stepped further down the cobbled path. And something caught Ella’s attention.

"I love it here." Ella stopped in her tracks. "I want to try that!"

Adrian looked at the row of hoops and weighted bottles with all the enthusiasm of someone being asked to perform dental surgery.

Ella tugged at his hand, eyes shining. "Come on, let’s win something. It’ll be fun."

Adrian remained unamused at the sight of the game. "Rigged."

Ella grinned. "That’s the point. You’re rich enough to lose."

Adrian’s calm face displayed the obvious subtitles: Why would you want to play a game to lose?

Despite that, he let her drag him toward the booth. The staff stood nearby, maintaining professional smiles but from their body language, one could tell that they were already bracing themselves.

They were already informed of the presence of the VVIPs in the amusement park. So, they were at edge, watching the grumpy looking 6 feet man in a tailored suit being dragged towards them with a girl in a sundress and a smile so huge that it blinded the sun.

Ella grabbed a ring and aimed with deep concentration, "Baby, watch how I do it..."

Adrian arched an eyebrow.

Ella nodded solemnly, "Don’t be shy about it. Since you haven’t been to an amusement park before, I will let you watch me and learn. It’s fine, we all start somewhere..."

One couldn’t say about Adrian but the staff members looked totally motivated by her speech.

Ella focused ahead and with apt sharpness, she threw the ring. It hit the rim, bounced, and rolled off.

Adrian nodded once. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
