Dead for sure?
Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin exchanged a glance; weren’t they in the only red room?
After calming the neighbor next door, Chu Yin sat on the floor with Lin Zhiyi to figure things out.
"Looks like we can’t wait anymore. I heard Bai Zhengxian make a call before; this maiden voyage will go through the high seas, and he’s planning to throw us all into the sea with our boxes. Who would know we’ve died? Even if we’re dead, they won’t be able to find our bodies."
Upon hearing this, Lin Zhiyi felt a tightness in her chest, and her head began to ache.
Seeing her rub her head constantly, Chu Yin hurriedly helped her to sit back on the small bed.
"Take a rest first, or you won’t have the energy to figure something out."
"Okay."
Lin Zhiyi lay down against the child, her consciousness uncontrollably falling into darkness.
The dream showed a familiar scene again.
Only this time it fast-forwarded to the scene where the maid was scolding Xingxing for throwing toys in front of the TV.
Lin Zhiyi couldn’t refute, and when she crouched down, the TV that the maid was blocking mentioned Chu Yin’s remains.
Lin Zhiyi subconsciously wanted to confirm if the anchor was referring to Chu Yin before.
Thus, she ignored the other images in the news.
Focusing closely, Lin Zhiyi saw clearly the scene behind the text.
It’s a salvage scene, with containers being retrieved from the sea one by one.
One of them being red.
Lin Zhiyi’s breath suddenly became rapid, so Chu Yin in her previous life died in this red container.
Chu Yin had said before that Bai Zhengxian wanted her on the ship.
Only this time, with Lin Zhiyi’s intervention, Chu Yin hadn’t boarded before leaving Bai Zhengxian.
But...
After twists and turns, Chu Yin still ended up in this red container.
In the dream, Lin Zhiyi stared at the corner of the screen on the TV, only then noticing that there were two names following Chu Yin’s name.
But they were just blocked by the maid.
Only the host’s voice could be heard.
"...as well as the remains of two children..."
Children!
Lin Zhiyi’s body trembled uncontrollably, like sleep paralysis.
"Zhiyi, Zhiyi, wake up quickly."
"..."
Lin Zhiyi’s consciousness struggled in her mind until cold water fell on her face, jolting her awake.
She sat up abruptly, meeting the worried eyes of three people.
Chu Yin shook the cup in her hand: "You were trembling all over, no matter how much I called you, you wouldn’t wake up. Did you have a nightmare?"
Lin Zhiyi gathered her thoughts, immediately reaching out to embrace the three in front of her.
"We will definitely get out; I absolutely won’t let anything happen to you."
"Zhiyi, what are you talking about?"
Chu Yin looked at Lin Zhiyi, baffled.
Lin Zhiyi didn’t know how to explain, she just tightly held Chu Yin’s hand.
"Trust me."
"Okay, okay, of course, I trust you." Chu Yin comforted.
The two children gathered around Lin Zhiyi.
"Auntie, we trust you too."
Upon hearing this, Lin Zhiyi calmed down.
Xingxing, Gong Chen, along with friends and family, were all waiting for her.
She couldn’t give up.
Just then, footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the door.
Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin instinctively stood in front of the two children.
The next second, the door opened.
Standing in the door was a fierce-looking man.
The man looked at Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin and showed a malicious smile.
Then he shook the food in his hand.
"Want to eat? You two give me a kiss each."
Looking at the steaming food, the two children pursed their lips but neither moved.
Chu Yin saw Lin Zhiyi’s grim face, and thought that they needed food to replenish energy.
She intended to step forward to flatter some, but Lin Zhiyi pulled her back.
Chu Yin pulled a few times: "I just heard it’s locked from the outside, doesn’t that mean your lock-picking skills are useless?"
Lin Zhiyi wasn’t so pessimistic.
"I saw the key on that man just now."
"Locked from the outside, we can’t get out, even if we get the key, it’s useless," Chu Yin reminded.
Lin Zhiyi led her to the air vent below.
"We can’t get out, but someone can."
Chu Yin raised her head and examined it for a moment, then turned toward the two children eating.
"Who’s going?"
"I will."
Little Xi immediately raised his hand.
Lin Zhiyi said helplessly: "Little Xi, I indeed have this thought. Of course, you can refuse. We can try to use the air vent window to spy on the surrounding situation; this way, you don’t have to risk going out."
Little Xi shook his head: "I’ll go. I just saw the outside situation through the door crack. I also remember that man’s facial features clearly. As long as I get the key, I can save you."
"Little Xi, it will be dangerous," Lin Zhiyi reminded.
"I’ll be careful," Little Xi said firmly.
Lin Zhiyi stroked his head.
Staying here means death. If Little Xi can get out, there’s at least a glimmer of hope.
"No time to lose, let’s start preparing."
"Okay," Little Xi nodded.
Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin sharpened the chopsticks.
Then Lin Zhiyi let the slimmer Chu Yin sit on her shoulders, cautiously approaching the air vent.
Chu Yin used the sharpened chopsticks to turn the screws.
The first one, the second one...
Only two left now.
Even though Lin Zhiyi’s legs were trembling from standing, she gritted her teeth and continued as she thought about escaping.
Just as Chu Yin was about to unscrew the third screw, footsteps suddenly sounded from outside the door.
"Open the door."
This voice...
