Chapter 6
Elysia’s POV
Four months later.
I gently stroked my round belly, feeling the powerful life growing inside me.
The life inside me was pure Alpha. I could feel its power humming in my blood.
“The Moon-Essence Herb is at the auction today,” Adrian whispered in my ear. “It’s very good for a pup’s soul development.”
“Really?” My eyes lit up. “Then we have to get it.”
The herb was incredibly rare, said to grow only in the deep mountains on a full moon, and it was known to strengthen an Alpha pup’s soul.
The Crystal Auction House was in a neutral zone, a place where packs traded rare goods.
When we arrived, the auction had already started.
“I need to handle something urgent,” Adrian said, frowning at an incoming call. “You go on in. I’ll be right back.”
I nodded and walked into the auction hall alone.
The Moon-Essence Herb was last, so I waited patiently
Just then, a familiar voice came from behind me.
“Elysia?”
I turned to see Lydia on Damon’s arm.
Damon looked worn out, with dark circles under his eyes and messy hair.
“Following me again?” His voice was a low taunt, laced with the arrogant assumption that my world still revolved around him.
“When will you give up these games, Elysia?”
I ignored him and turned my attention back to the stage.
“I knew you couldn’t let go,” Damon said, moving to my side, his voice filled with a twisted satisfaction. “You hide for months, but you still couldn’t resist showing up where I’d be.”
“I’m not following you,” I said flatly,
“Then why are you here?” Lydia snapped. “Such a coincidence?”
“I’m here to buy something.”
Just then, Damon’s gaze shifted from my face to my stomach.
His face went slack with shock. “You’re…” His voice was a choked whisper. “You’re pregnant?”
“Yes.”
In the next second, he rushed in front of me, his eyes wild.
“You’re pregnant with my pup?” he snarled, his eyes wild with possessiveness. “Why the hell didn’t you tell me?” He lunged
forward, his hand reaching for my stomach. “By the Goddess, we’re having a pup!”
I stepped back, avoiding his hand.
“This is not your pup.”
“What?” He froze. “Impossible! We mated for six years! You can’t be pregnant with someone else’s pup!”
“It’s very possible,” I sneered. “Because I had no interest in being one of your thirty Luna candidates.”
Damon’s face went white,
“You… how did you know…”
“Thirty candidates? A month-long trial for each of us? Where you scored us like cattle?” My voice dripped with sarcasm.
“Honestly, it’s disgusting.”
The other bidders were starting to stare.
“Elysia, listen to me!” Damon’s voice was laced with panic. “The trials… that was a test! For the good of the pack!”
“For the pack?” My voice rose. “Or to satisfy your own ego?”
“No!” he denied, but his eyes were fixed on my belly. “That’s not the point! The point is you’re carrying my pup!”
“I told you, he’s not your pup.”
“You’re lying!” he sounded desperate. “You’re just using my pup to get back at me!”
“Damon, your pack is a mess, isn’t it?”
