Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 502

Seeing their affectionate yet guilty expressions, Anastasia couldn't help but feel a flicker of confusion. The directors clearly cared about her, so why hadn't they reached out when she came of age to inherit the company? And why had they allowed Lauren Brennan to meddle in company affairs for so long without doing anything?

Voicing her doubts, she gently probed them.

To her surprise, Mr. Lynn and the others looked completely bewildered.

"But we did contact you, Miss Sterling. We called you more than once when you were sixteen, hoping you would come to the company to learn the ropes…"

But Anastasia had supposedly refused to take their calls. Eventually, a family member had answered and told them to stop calling, to stop paying attention to her, and to leave her alone. They were told she wanted nothing to do with the company.

Later, when she turned eighteen and could legally inherit, they tried again. This time, they received a blunt text message saying that her grandfather’s family had already decided to give the company to Lauren and that she didn't want it. The message ended with a demand for them to stop bothering her.

It was her apparent attitude that had caused the directors, who had been on the verge of ousting Lauren, to back down. If Anastasia herself was willing to hand the company over on a silver platter, what more could they say?

Hearing this, Anastasia was even more stunned than they were. A moment later, her face hardened, her eyes turning ice-cold.

"I never received any calls from you, nor did I ever send you any message."

The color drained from the directors' faces.

Did that mean they had all been played for fools? The realization that they had been so thoroughly deceived, nearly allowing an adopted daughter to steal the company, filled them with shame and incandescent rage.

Anastasia remained composed. "What number did you use to contact me?"
