Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 108

“Don’t you like it?”

“What does ‘It’ll do’ even mean?”

She lowered her gaze, taking in the luxurious gown she wore. An unspoken disappointment crept quietly through her heart, so subtle even she failed to notice it.

As night fell, the Locke Group’s quarterly gala came alive with dazzling lights and glittering guests. The ballroom was a swirl of elegant dresses and tailored suits, laughter and the clinking of glasses filling the air.

Julian, the Locke family’s second son, was of course in attendance with his date.

Queenie wore a champagne-colored strapless ballgown—this season’s newest release—her makeup flawless, her smile sweet, her hand nestled affectionately in the crook of Julian’s arm. She basked in the compliments from those around them, some genuine, others dripping with polite insincerity.

“Queenie, your dress is stunning! You look absolutely radiant tonight.”

“Yes, you and Mr. Locke make such a perfect couple!”

“You’re truly a lucky woman, Queenie!”

Reveling in the attention and praise, Queenie’s smile grew even more triumphant. She tilted her head closer to Julian, her eyes sparkling with affection and a hint of pride.

Julian returned the guests’ greetings with a practiced, gracious smile, though his gaze wandered. Of course, to him, Queenie was the most beautiful woman in the room.

Just then, a subtle commotion rippled through the entrance—a faint disturbance, like a pebble tossed into a still lake, sending waves across the calm.

The conversations and toasts seemed to quiet, and, one by one, the guests’ attention shifted toward the doors.

Julian and Queenie instinctively glanced over as well.

In the very next moment, Queenie’s self-satisfied smile froze in place, turning brittle and artificial, her eyes wide with shock and a surge of jealous disbelief.

Julian’s pupils constricted; he drew a sharp breath, his grip on his wineglass tightening until his knuckles blanched.

Gwyneth had arrived.

She glided into the room in a floor-length gown of deep ocean blue, as if she wore the night sky itself, studded with a thousand tiny stars. The daring backless cut, under the brilliant lights, highlighted her flawless fair skin and the elegant lines of her figure.

Her face was composed, betraying no emotion. Her cool gaze swept across the room, radiating a regal confidence and chilly detachment. Her lips, painted a bold red, were a striking contrast—fire and ice in perfect harmony.

Every step she took commanded attention, as if she were surrounded by her own spotlight, instantly drawing all eyes away from the rest of the crowd.

The compliments that had circled Queenie moments ago vanished without a trace.

Now, every gaze was riveted to that breathtaking vision in sapphire, awe and admiration mingling with a touch of reverence.
