Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 13

The group took the elevator upstairs. As soon as they stepped out, Julian glanced down the hallway.

Not seeing Gwyneth anywhere, he gestured for Bennett to follow him toward the executive office.

“Right this way, Bennett.”

Once inside, Gwyneth emerged from the break room, a fresh cup of coffee in hand. Noticing the “Do Not Disturb” sign now hanging on the office door, a sly smile tugged at her lips.

So, they’ve arrived?

Perfect. Time for her to deliver a little surprise of her own.

She calmly dialed the client’s number.

“Hello, Mr. Grant? This is Gwyneth. I wanted to let you know the company has appointed a new project manager, and I’ll send you their contact information now.”

Mr. Grant’s response sounded tinged with regret. “Ms. Fletcher, honestly, working with you has always been the smoothest experience. Are you sure they have to replace you?”

Gwyneth gave a polite, warm laugh. “This was the CEO’s decision—nothing I can do about it. I hope we’ll have the chance to work together again soon.”

...

Meanwhile, inside the executive office, everyone was getting settled.

Queenie, ever the eager host, stood up to make tea for the guests.

After she returned to her seat, Julian spoke up with genuine pride. “Bennett, let me formally introduce you, this is Queenie, one of the pillars of Harvest Group. Her expertise has been invaluable to us.”

Queenie rose, her delicate features tinged with a modest blush. “Mr. Boyd, it’s truly an honor to meet you at last.”

Bennett didn’t even bother to look up. He picked up the delicate porcelain cup on the table, but didn’t drink—just turned it in his hand as if admiring the craftsmanship. His pale wrist and the smooth curve of the cup made an unexpectedly striking picture.

The atmosphere suddenly grew tense.

Julian shot Queenie a look. She awkwardly took a sip of her own coffee and sat back down, clearly uncomfortable.

Julian quickly tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. “So, Bennett, I assume your visit this time means the family is planning to shift its focus to the domestic market?”

“Harvest Group may not be the largest subsidiary under Boyd Group, but our revenue has been growing steadily every year. With the board’s support, I’m confident we can deliver even greater returns.”

“Is this Queenie? This is Troy Grant from Celestial Group.”

The color drained from Queenie’s face. She didn’t have time to hang up.

“That’s the thirty million project with Celestial Group, isn’t it?” Bennett raised an eyebrow, motioning for her to put the call on speaker.

With no way out, Queenie complied. “Hello, Mr. Grant, this is Queenie. How can I help you?”

“I was told you’re the new project manager for our company’s account,” Mr. Grant said, his tone clearly irritated. “But I haven’t heard a word from you about the project plan, so I had to call you myself.”

Queenie’s mind went blank.

This was Gwyneth’s project. She had no clue about the details.

And with Bennett watching, if she couldn’t provide an answer, it would be obvious she’d taken credit for someone else’s work.

Feeling the pressure closing in, Queenie could only bluff, her voice tight with frustration.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Grant. At the moment I’m with an important guest. May I call you back in a little while?”
