Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 17

Elodie’s bright, clear voice announced her arrival before she even appeared, her fiery red waves bouncing with every step. The sharp click of her black Valentino heels echoed across the floor as she strode straight into Gwyneth’s office and flopped onto the leather sofa.

“What’s going on?”

Gwyneth closed her quarterly report, stretched back in her chair, and crossed her long legs in an easy, languid pose. A shaft of sunlight filtered through her hair, making her look effortlessly elegant and just a little bit lazy.

Elodie glanced around, making sure the office was soundproofed, then lowered her voice. “Queenie just went down to the parking garage. Five minutes later, her hand’s broken. No clue what happened.”

A flicker of unease crossed Gwyneth’s face. She narrowed her eyes. “Did you check the security cameras?”

Without missing a beat, Elodie popped open her laptop and typed furiously, the keys rattling under her fingers. A single line appeared on the monitor.

File deleted.

“We’ve been hacked! Damn, who’s got the guts to wipe the group’s surveillance?”

Gwyneth shot out of her seat and strode over to Elodie, her brow furrowed. “Can you recover it?”

Elodie’s fingers flew over the keyboard, her tone almost bored. “This kind of deletion? Child’s play. But the audio’s gone.”

“No audio?” Gwyneth frowned.

A silent security video flickered onto the screen.

On the footage, a tall, imposing man walked into frame.

Moments later, Queenie hurried after him.

Was that Queenie’s secret lover?

But when the man turned and his face became visible, Gwyneth froze.

The lighting in the underground garage was dim, throwing his features into sharp, intimidating relief—even through the screen, his presence was overwhelming.

That was her brand-new husband.

[Dinner at home tonight. Julian’s older brother got back last night—he was supposed to be here for your engagement party, but it was postponed. So we’ll introduce you first.]

The message was from Julian’s father, Yale Locke.

Gwyneth stared at the text, a crease forming between her brows.

The Locke family’s eldest son? The one they’d sent abroad as a child and who’d never shown his face since?

He’d never come back, not once, and only now, for his brother’s engagement, did he return. That must mean Julian mattered to him.

She’d been with Julian for five years and had never met this mysterious brother, barely even heard the family mention his name.

Ben Locke, was it?

For some reason, just thinking about the Locke family’s eldest gave her an uneasy feeling—a sense of danger lurking just out of sight.

Gwyneth flipped her phone face down on the desk. “Find out everything you can about Julian’s big brother.”
