Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 184

“Gwyneth, what do you say we let bygones be bygones? Let’s have a drink and call it even, shall we?”

Desiree’s voice was deliberately light, as if nothing had ever happened between them.

Gwyneth’s gaze dropped to the glass of wine offered to her, the crystal-clear liquid catching the light, glinting with temptation. She made no move to take it, remaining silent.

Drugged again? The thought flickered through her mind in an instant.

So predictable. No creativity at all.

She had to suppress a laugh.

Desiree, seeing Gwyneth’s hesitation, looked wounded and hurried to protest, her voice tinged with plaintive sincerity. “I promise! There’s nothing in it, I swear! If you don’t believe me… we can switch glasses.”

She made an exaggerated show of offering her own drink instead.

Gwyneth watched her, lips curving into a more pronounced, wry smile—one that held both understanding and a hint of mockery. She didn’t bother with the switch. Instead, she simply reached out and took the glass Desiree had originally offered.

“Sure,” she replied, her voice clear and ringing, carrying a strange sort of authority.

With Desiree beaming in delight and Queenie watching with the smug satisfaction of someone who thought their plan had succeeded, Gwyneth tipped her head back and downed the wine in one go—no hesitation, no fear. Her movements were cool and decisive, exuding a sharp confidence. When she finished, she deliberately turned the empty glass upside down and gave it a little shake in front of Desiree and Queenie. The last drops slid slowly down the inside of the glass, catching the light.

“Happy now?” Gwyneth’s words were edged with a cold, playful irony.

Desiree and Queenie kept their smiles fixed, looking for all the world as if nothing were amiss.

So, this time they’re trying something new?

Apparently, drugging her wasn’t on the menu tonight.

Just then, a small commotion stirred at the entryway. Bennett’s imposing figure appeared in the doorway, his presence commanding instant attention from everyone in the room.

His gaze, sharp as a hawk’s, immediately found Gwyneth—and the two women facing her, their smiles a little too sly.

Julian, noticing Bennett’s arrival, nudged his glasses up his nose and led Zayden over to greet him, voice low and edged with warning. “You made it, big brother.”

Bennett’s eyes flicked coolly over Julian and Zayden. He paused, then turned and strode directly toward Julian.

Queenie, spotting Bennett’s approach, felt a surge of triumph. She quickly slipped her arm through Gwyneth’s, tugging her along as they headed in the same direction, her voice suddenly warm and ingratiating.

“Mr. Boyd! How wonderful to see you here!”

By now, everyone had converged in the center of the ballroom.
