Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 195

Morning sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, flooding the villa’s dining room with a clear, pale light that felt more cool than warm.

Gwyneth sat alone at the table, her movements unhurried as she ate breakfast, gaze lingering on the empty seat across from her.

Bennett wasn’t here.

Had he gone to the office?

Given how he’d looked last night, Dr. Lawrence had surely told him to rest.

So why was he up and about instead of taking it easy?

Gwyneth frowned, but the expression soon faded. He had his own business to attend to—she had hers.

———

Harvest Group Headquarters.

In her office, Gwyneth swiftly organized several important documents, slipping them into a sleek folder. She checked the time, stood, and headed straight for the elevators.

Passing by Bennett’s office, she paused for a moment outside the closed door.

Still empty. He really hadn’t come in.

Without lingering, Gwyneth continued down the hall to Julian’s office. She raised her hand and knocked firmly—three crisp raps against the thick oak door.

Knock, knock, knock.

There was a faint shuffle from inside, hurried and barely audible, followed by a few seconds of silence. Then Julian’s voice called out, deep and a little hoarse:

“Come in.”

Gwyneth opened the door.

The scene that greeted her drew a flicker of icy sarcasm in her eyes.

Julian sat stiffly behind his oversized desk, his suit immaculate, gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, his expression tight with annoyance at the interruption.

Queenie stood near the corner of the desk, back to the door, hastily smoothing her rumpled dress and tousled hair, her movements betraying her haste.

A faint trace of sweet, cloying perfume lingered in the air—a sharp contrast to Julian’s usual crisp, woody cologne.

Gwyneth’s gaze landed unerringly on Julian’s neck: just above his collar, a faint but unmistakable red mark—fresh, and glaringly obvious.

Queenie turned around at that moment, her cheeks still flushed, a smudge of lipstick at the corner of her mouth in the same tell-tale shade.

Couldn’t even wait until work was over.
