A sharp burst of overhead light from the hallway cut through the doorway, illuminating the slender figure that had just appeared at the entrance.
The backlighting cast her in silhouette, obscuring her features and revealing only the outline of a striking figure—tall, graceful, with elegant shoulders, a swan-like neck, a slim waist, and legs that seemed to go on forever.
Without a hint of hesitation, she strode forward, her steps confident and unhurried, moving straight into the main hall, her team following close behind.
As she moved away from the glare and into the softer light of the room, her face and attire came clearly into view.
It was Gwyneth.
She had swept her long, dark hair into a neat chignon at the nape of her neck, perfectly framing her high forehead and the flawless contours of her head.
Her features were both delicate and striking—high cheekbones, luminous skin almost glowing under the lights, and a quiet, poised confidence that seemed to radiate from her.
Gwyneth exuded an air of icy elegance and authority, a presence impossible to ignore—intelligent, composed, and undeniably powerful.
A ripple of hushed gasps and murmured whispers swept through the room.
“That’s the new CEO at Fletcher Group, right? Gwyneth?”
“My God, she’s so young… and so—beautiful.”
Someone muttered under their breath, sneaking a sideways glance at Julian and Queenie.
“I heard she’s Julian’s real fiancée, and that woman next to him? The side piece.”
“Damn, things just got interesting.”
“But isn’t she just a pretty face, riding her family’s coattails? Look at her all dressed up at a major bidding event—proves the rumors, doesn’t it?”
“Word is she was just a secretary before this, barely back at Fletcher Group for a month. What experience could she possibly have? She’s probably just here for the spectacle.”
“Check out her team… see that woman with the big waves? She’s gorgeous, too. What, did Fletcher Group hire a beauty pageant squad? Honestly, they don’t look like much of a threat.”
Snide, dismissive, and faintly jealous gossip crackled in the corners of the room.
No one seemed to take Gwyneth or her team seriously as competitors; her presence, to most, was just a curiosity—a beautiful CEO at a high-stakes business event.
But in sharp contrast to the crowd’s skepticism was Julian’s reaction.
As the harsh light faded and Gwyneth’s striking face came into focus, Julian felt his heart lurch violently, as if gripped in a sudden spasm that left him breathless for a moment.
He stared, eyes wide, at the woman who seemed utterly transformed.
