Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 258

After Tomas finished speaking, he “invited” the man out again—there was no room for refusal. The man took one last look at Gwyneth, but in the end, he followed Tomas out the door.

Gwyneth remained where she was, her eyes fixed on the now-closed door. Slowly, a cold, mocking smile crept across her lips.

Wait for her call?

Ha. Maybe in the next life.

At home, Queenie was a bundle of nerves, unable to sit still as she kept glancing anxiously at the clock on the wall.

The moment she heard a key turning in the lock, she sprang to the door like an eager songbird.

Julian stepped inside, his face like thunder, radiating an icy, suffocating tension.

If Queenie noticed his foul mood, she gave no sign. Instead, she greeted him with a sugary, hopeful smile, quickly taking his suit jacket and fussing over him in a cloyingly sweet voice.

“Julian, you’re back! So? Did you see Nimbus? Did she agree to the partnership?”

She fired off questions, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

“Did you mention me? Does she still remember who I am? As soon as you brought me up, did she agree right away?”

Julian halted, looking down at the woman in front of him—so naïve, lost in her own wishful thinking.

The sheer obliviousness, the self-satisfied delusion, was suddenly unbearable. In Queenie, he saw a mirror reflecting the clown he’d made of himself just hours before, strutting and posturing in that private lounge.

A wave of anger crashed over him.

He jerked away from her hands as she tried to straighten his tie, his voice so cold it could freeze the air, his gaze sharp enough to cut:

“Queenie.”

He practically spat her name through clenched teeth.

“Tell me the truth. Do you actually know Nimbus? Do you even know who she is?”

Queenie recoiled at his sudden fury, her smile freezing in place.

Staring into his blazing eyes, her confidence crumbled. Her voice wavered.

“I… Of course I know her… Julian, what’s wrong? Did something go wrong with the deal? Nimbus, she—”

“Speak!”

Julian’s patience snapped, his voice a whipcrack.

“How do you know her? The details. Every last word. Don’t leave anything out.”

Queenie trembled at his outburst. She’d never seen him so angry at her before. Though the last thing she wanted was to expose her bluff, his threatening presence forced the truth out, her voice quivering:

“I… I met her through… through Gwyneth’s parents. You know, the couple who passed away… They introduced me…”
