Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 274

Lance’s heart thundered in his chest. After the initial surge of panic, an odd sense of reckless freedom washed over him, as if he’d decided to just let the chips fall where they may.

He took a deep breath, feeling as though a massive weight had finally slipped from his shoulders, and walked step by step toward Ziggy.

Maybe for the first time in his life, he was about to openly defy the path his brother had mapped out for him—the safe, predictable climb up the corporate ladder in some big company.

He stopped in front of Ziggy and lifted his head. Though his nerves still rattled inside him, his eyes shone with a determination he’d never known before. “Ziggy…”

His voice came out hoarse but steady.

“I know I’ve let you down. All this time… I never wanted to join some corporate giant. I just want to do what I love. Photography, chasing down stories… That’s what I want out of life.”

He closed his eyes, bracing himself for the final verdict.

“Go ahead and yell at me if you want. Heck, smack me if it makes you feel better. I can take it… But I’m not giving up Breeze Studios. I’m going to keep at it.”

He steeled himself for his brother’s wrath, for disappointment, maybe even for some heavy-handed attempt at control.

But the storm he’d imagined never came.

Ziggy regarded him—this was his little brother’s moment of martyrdom, and yet Ziggy only gave the faintest shake of his head. Then he raised his hand.

Lance flinched instinctively, sure he was about to get slapped.

But Ziggy’s hand just rested gently—almost reassuringly—on his shoulder and gave it a light pat.

Lance’s eyes flew open. He stared at his brother, stunned.

Ziggy’s face remained inscrutable, but something in his gaze softened. His voice held that same calm, composed steadiness it always did.

“If that’s what you want, then go for it.”

Lance froze, convinced he must have misheard.

Ziggy went on, his tone unwavering. “You don’t have to hide anything from me anymore. If you don’t want to work at Locke Group, you can quit. Focus on your ‘Mr. Dalton’ project.”

Lance’s eyes widened, his mouth falling open in utter disbelief.

He’d braced himself for every worst-case scenario, but it had never crossed his mind—

That his brother might actually support him.

A surge of joy and a bittersweet ache crashed over him, leaving his nose tingling and his eyes stinging.

“Wait—you… you really mean it? You support me?”

His voice trembled, as if he still didn’t dare believe it.
