Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 280

The next morning.

Gwyneth woke slowly, cocooned in a gentle warmth and a sense of safety she hadn’t felt in years.

Before she was fully awake, she noticed the firmness beneath her—not her own bed—and the weight of an arm draped around her waist.

Groggy, she lifted her head, only to find Bennett’s face inches from hers.

Soft morning light slipped through the cracks in the tent, painting his features in a golden glow, every angle and plane of his face touched by sunshine.

His eyelashes were long and dark, casting delicate shadows beneath his eyes. With each breath, they trembled slightly—fragile, almost like butterfly wings.

That strong nose, those perfectly cut lips…

She’d seen him like this before, but it still caught her off guard. For a moment, her heart skipped, and she couldn’t look away.

As she silently admired the view, his lashes fluttered and slowly lifted.

He met her gaze with clear, focused eyes—no trace of sleepiness, only the hint of a smile in their depths, as if he’d been watching her for a while.

He’s awake?!

And… had he been for some time already?!

Gwyneth’s cheeks went crimson in an instant. Like a thief caught red-handed, she panicked, wriggling out of his arms and sitting up so fast it nearly made her dizzy. She averted her eyes, feigning composure as she awkwardly coughed.

“Ahem… You’re up?”

Bennett watched her, clearly amused by her not-so-subtle attempt at nonchalance. He sat up too, his voice deliciously rough with sleep.

“Yeah. I’ve been awake for a while.”

Gwyneth: !!!

So he’d caught her staring?

And for that long?

Mortification swept over her. She couldn’t stay another second. She jumped to her feet, words tumbling out in a rush.

“Let’s—let’s go! Time to head back! I’ve got work!”

Bennett watched her nearly stumble over herself in her hurry to escape. He couldn’t help but laugh, calling after her in a lazy drawl,

“Mrs. Boyd, it’s Saturday.”

Gwyneth froze mid-stride, shoulders stiff and even more embarrassed, before darting to the car at record speed—as if something wild were chasing her.

Watching her flustered retreat, Bennett felt an inexplicable warmth blooming in his chest.

———

Back at the villa, they each got cleaned up.

Gwyneth was toweling her hair dry when she noticed several missed calls from Elodie on her phone.
