Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 45

Locke Group.

Sunlight poured through the glass façade, flooding the lobby of Locke Group with a golden glow. Queenie strode in, her ten-centimeter heels clicking against the polished floor, the crimson sheath dress hugging her figure and swaying with every confident step.

She carried a gold-embossed folder in one hand. Her lips curved into a faint smile, but her eyes held a sharp edge.

“Good morning. I’m here to deliver Harvest Group’s partnership proposal for the second half of the year.”

The receptionist immediately stood, offering Queenie a respectful smile. “Queenie, the CEO isn’t in at the moment.”

Queenie let out a soft, knowing laugh, tapping her manicured fingers against the folder. “No rush. I’ll wait for him in the executive suite.”

The receptionist started to say, “The CEO seems to be out on—” but Queenie was already gliding towards the elevator.

Outside the executive offices, Queenie paused to check her reflection in a glass panel, smoothing her hair and pressing her crimson lips together, her fingers tightening around the Harvest Group proposal.

“What? He’s on a business trip?” she asked, annoyance flashing in her eyes.

So today was a wasted effort.

Why did he leave so suddenly?

Just then, a tall, striking woman appeared at the end of the hallway—Desiree.

She wore a tailored pencil skirt and her long hair was swept up in an elegant twist. Every step in her stilettos radiated both poise and cool authority. Without hesitation, she pushed open the CEO’s office door, a stack of documents in her hand.

Queenie’s eyes narrowed.

Bennett’s office was practically sacred ground—no one entered uninvited except Bennett himself.

She immediately grabbed the arm of the staffer she’d just spoken to, her smile bright but clearly forced. “Who is she? Is that woman a guest of Mr. Boyd’s?”

The staffer glanced over and lowered her voice. “That’s Ms. Sutton, daughter of the Sutton Group’s chairman. She’s Mr. Boyd’s only female executive assistant—has top-level clearance.”

Queenie’s nails dug into her palm.

What are those two doing together?

Desiree’s expression turned icy as she spoke. “Are the quarterly financial reports ready?”

Gwyneth took the documents from her bag and handed them over, her tone strictly professional. “They’re all sorted, Ms. Sutton. You’re welcome to review them.”

Desiree took the folder, running her finger along the edge of the pages before giving a sudden, sharp laugh. “I had you working late last night to get these done, and now this morning the CEO’s assistant sends out an all-staff memo banning overtime?”

She looked up, eyes razor-sharp. “Impressive, Gwyneth. Even the CEO’s assistant does your bidding?”

Gwyneth’s expression didn’t change. “I’m not sure about the details. But unless I work overtime, there’s no way to finish the tasks you assign.”

Queenie seized the moment, her smile saccharine. “Oh, don’t be upset, Ms. Sutton. Gwyneth’s new here—maybe she hasn’t learned the ropes yet.”

She shot Gwyneth a sidelong glance, lips curling in a barely concealed sneer. “But… if she can get the CEO’s assistant to go out of their way for her, Gwyneth must be quite the operator.”
