His gaze cut into Queenie like a blade, sharp with contempt and disgust. “Get out. Now!”
Queenie froze, terror-stricken, unable to process what she should do.
Yale turned to the butler and the security team who had hurried over, his tone cold and merciless. “Show her the door—now! From this moment on, she’s banned from ever setting foot in the Locke family estate again. If any of you let her back in, you’ll be out with her!”
The guards moved immediately, grabbing Queenie’s limp arms and dragging her out as if she were nothing more than a pile of trash.
With that dealt with, Yale’s icy stare fixed on Julian, who stood brooding and sullen. “You are not leaving this room until the wedding. No visitors, no exceptions, not without my permission!”
Yale took a deep breath and turned to Gwyneth.
He studied her—his soon-to-be daughter-in-law—her cheeks still streaked with tears, looking so fragile and wronged. The anger in his eyes softened, replaced by a shrewd calculation. He needed to keep Gwyneth on his side; she was too important a piece in this game.
Julian understood his father’s meaning—it was his own carelessness that had brought things to this point.
“Gwyneth, whatever you think you saw between Queenie and me, it’s not what you imagine…”
Gwyneth kept her head bowed, long lashes still wet with tears, her shoulders trembling as she struggled to hold herself together.
“But… I could have sworn I heard—”
“Gwyneth,” Yale’s voice gentled, taking on the soothing cadence of an older man trying to comfort. “You’ve been wronged. This is Julian’s fault, and the Locke family’s failure. I promise you, this will be taken care of. Queenie will never appear before you again. As for Julian, I’ll make sure he’s properly disciplined.”
He paused, his tone brooking no argument. “The wedding will go ahead as planned, the eighth of next month. The Lockes will celebrate with the grandest ceremony, making it clear to the world that you are our legitimate daughter-in-law. I won’t let today’s events cast the slightest shadow on your reputation.”
