Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 94

Gwyneth’s voice was colder than before, distant and sharp. “Stay away from me. I’ve got a cold, and I’d hate to pass it on.”

She put extra emphasis on “pass it on,” and the disgust in her eyes was impossible to miss.

Queenie’s face flushed scarlet as she awkwardly pulled her outstretched hand back, glancing at Julian with wounded puppy eyes. “Julian, you saw that, right? I was just worried about her…”

Looking at Gwyneth—icy, completely shutting everyone out—Julian’s mind instantly twisted her behavior into something else: maybe she actually cared, maybe she was just being difficult.

He frowned slightly, his tone a blend of gentle reproach and concern. “Gwyneth, Queenie meant well. You’re not feeling well—you don’t have to be so harsh. Do you want me to drive you home? Or… should I have the Locke family’s doctor come by and check on you?”

Gwyneth nearly laughed out loud at the way these two thought.

Meant well? Drive her home? Have the Locke family’s doctor take a look at her? Where did they get this kind of nerve—and shamelessness?

She couldn’t be bothered to waste another second arguing with people so trapped in their own fantasies.

She turned to leave, but Winston caught her by the arm before she could take a step.

“Gwyneth, do you realize what you’re doing? Julian’s only trying to help, how could you treat him like this? And as for the company, what do you possibly know about business? You won’t even answer your phone! Let Madeline and Yohan go—they’re family.”

Winston spoke with the pompous authority he imagined a real patriarch should have, blissfully unaware of how ridiculous he looked.

“Family?” Gwyneth let out a cold laugh, her smile mocking. “Since when have Madeline and I ever been family?”

“Listen…” Winston stammered, flustered. “Madeline’s done a lot for the company, and Yohan’s my good friend. Just let them go and we can talk this through. You’re new at the helm—there are some people you really shouldn’t offend, or you’ll lose everyone’s trust.”

Gwyneth’s laugh was icy, her contempt barely contained.

“Oh, please.” She arched one brow. “Madeline’s ‘done a lot’? She’s a fraud with a fake degree—what exactly did she contribute?”

“And Yohan, your good friend? Every suspicious transaction I’ve found in the books has his signature all over it.”

She turned to face Winston, looking down at him with an authority that cut deeper than any words. “I’m in charge now. The board made me chairwoman. If anyone’s worried about losing trust around here, it’s not me.”

Winston’s face turned red with anger and embarrassment. He snapped, “You’ll do as I say! I’m your uncle—who looked after you when your parents died? You ungrateful brat!”

“You? You nearly ran Fletcher Group into the ground!” Gwyneth shot back, her tone icy calm. “I’m the one who saved this company, built a real business plan, kept us afloat—while you were just a figurehead. So who’s the ungrateful one here, Uncle Winston?”

Winston, on reflex, raised his hand to slap her. His palm hung in the air, Julian hesitated to intervene, but someone beat him to it.

“What’s going on here?” Hugo strode over, eyes steely.
