Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 99

“Hello?” Her voice was thick with congestion and still rough from sleep.

“Gwyneth!!” Lance’s excitement nearly burst through the phone. “You are incredible! We just wrapped up shooting and—how did you pull it off? Seriously, you’re a miracle worker! Julian—Julian’s back at Harvest Group. Just now, the company sent out the official notice. Oh my god! I can finally breathe easy. No more walking on eggshells, waiting for the axe to fall!”

Harvest Group?

Gwyneth gripped her phone, her sleepiness vanishing in an instant, but her mind felt tangled and sluggish, like a ball of knotted string.

“What?” The question blurted out before she could think, her voice full of stunned disbelief. “He... he’s gone back to Harvest Group?”

“Absolutely, it’s the real deal! Gwyneth, I knew you’d find a way!” Lance was still rambling on, practically giddy with relief.

But Gwyneth couldn’t hear a single word he was saying anymore.

This was no small matter.

With Julian’s personality and clout at Locke Group, who could possibly have the power to move him out so quickly?

She’d only just finalized her partnership with Bennett today—and now, Julian...

Could it really be him? Bennett?

The thought struck like a bolt of lightning.

But... was that even possible?

Bennett’s G-B Group was formidable, sure, but they were still an outside competitor. Major personnel changes inside Locke Group—especially when it came to the second Locke son, Julian—why would Bennett have any say?

Had his reach already burrowed this deeply into Locke Group’s core?

Or... had he struck some secret deal with the higher-ups at Locke?

Was he working with the Locke family’s eldest son?

A chill, mingled with a swirl of complex emotions, swept away the last remnants of fatigue from her body.

“I got it.” Gwyneth’s voice was back to its usual cool clarity as she cut off Lance’s endless chatter. She didn’t bother with any pleasantries, just hung up.

The room fell silent again, except for her slightly ragged breathing.

In the dim light, her eyes were razor-sharp.

She didn’t hesitate. Scrolling through her contacts, she found Bennett’s number and hit call.

He picked up almost immediately.

“Awake?” Bennett’s low, magnetic voice came through, the background so quiet it sounded almost intimate. “How are you feeling? Any better?”

Gwyneth’s fingers tightened around the phone.

He was asking about her health, as if the whole Julian situation had never happened.

“Better,” she replied simply. Her voice was still a little hoarse, but stronger than before.

She didn’t bother with pleasantries, just went straight to the point. Her tone was steady but left no room for evasion: “Julian was just transferred back to Harvest Group.”

On the other end, Bennett fell silent.

Gwyneth could picture him perfectly—in that hospital bed, sitting quietly, eyes lowered and unreadable, lips pressed in a thin, inscrutable line.
