Chapter 345

Word got around that Emily had become vice president of the Bennett Group, and almost everyone in Cloudridge knew it. Whether they meant well or not, many kept a close eye on the project she held.

Emily understood this well, but instead of pulling back, she acted louder and bolder, like she wanted everyone’s eyes on her.

Everyone thought she was just new and anxious to prove herself since she started as vice president right away, which made her act so showy.

No one believed Emily, clueless as she was, could manage such a big project well without Andrew’s help. They were all waiting to see her screw up.

When word spread that Lydia had joined the project team, even more folks came to watch. Andrew also kept an eye on Emily, worried she would be mean to Lydia.

Despite all this, Lydia showed up to work on time every day in a good mood. She had given up the rich heiress life to be an office worker. She wasn’t crazy; she was targeting Emily.

If it was something that would annoy Emily, Lydia was all for it.

There was another reason for Lydia’s good mood. Ever since Cale went missing, she had been nervous for a month, scared that rumors about her would come out.

It had been a month. Though Cale hadn’t been found, no rumors surfaced about her. It seemed Cale’s threat that something would be exposed after a month was just a bluff.

Lydia thought her biggest threat was out of the picture, so of course, she was in a good mood. Riding that wave of good spirits, she threw herself wholeheartedly into the task Andrew had assigned-to cause some trouble for Emily’s team.

She wanted any chance to get back at Emily, hoping she would beg her with tears so she could set the terms.

Therefore, she grabbed the chance Andrew gave her. Every day, she would mess up documents, forget client meetings, get data wrong, or even “accidentally” delete files her coworkers worked hard on.

After doing these things, she would sneak peeks at Emily, like she was waiting for a reaction. However, Emily stayed calm, like she was watching some joke.

Emily did see her as a joke. She knew Lydia was doing all this on purpose, with Andrew’s backing, but she didn’t care at all. In fact, she kind of liked it.

She wished the situation would escalate, drawing everyone’s attention onto herself, and only then could Austin’s plan proceed smoothly.

Yet, Emily’s mind was fixed on something else.

Though Lydia’s mistakes seemed minor, it was enough to make coworkers hate her. Strangely, every one of them forgave her after she apologized with a tearful look.

They didn’t forgive her just because she was from the Bennett family, but because they truly believed that she was sorry. The one thing someone hated most was dumb teammates. Even the nicest people snapped when they kept getting dragged down again and again.

However, Lydia didn’t actually do anything. Just saying sorry with a tearful look was enough to get away with it. That was

Not sure what Lydia was up to, Emily dared not act rashly. She just didn’t expect that Jeremy would come straight to her. “Ms. Harper, you’ve been following us for days. Is there something you want to say to me?” Jeremy said.

After sending Lydia off, Jeremy stopped Emily as she was leaving and bluntly told her that he had already noticed she was following them.

Emily knew he wouldn’t just call her out and walk away. She got out of the car and said calmly, “Then why are you telling m this now? Do you have something to say to me?”

Jeremy kept a gentle smile. “Ms. Harper, I respect smart people like you. Why can’t we just be friends?”

“Sending Lydia to target me? Is that how you treat friends?” Emily said. After discovering Lydia snooping on her phone, she had also checked her phone.

Lydia was cautious, leaving nothing useful on her phone, but Emily unexpectedly saw chat records between her and Jeremy and realized that they were scheming against her.

However, she had no beef with Jeremy and didn’t get why he kept going after her.

Noticing her confusion, Jeremy’s gentle smile faded. “Ms. Harper, what I want with you is a friendship where secrets can be

shared with no worries.

He suddenly leaned closer. “For example, can you tell me what Zack said to you?”
