Chapter 397

Legally, she wasn’t married, but people in her village said she was. She had a husband who hadn’t come back for years but would call her once or twice a year.

Her husband was Cale. The bodyguards and doctors tried asking her questions, but no matter what they said, the woman just looked scared and curled up in a corner of the bed, refusing to speak.

Emily quickly decided to take the woman to meet Cale. Cale had been confined during this time. Besides the restrictions, he hadn’t suffered. In fact, his skin appeared healthier due to his steady routine.

But the moment he saw the woman, his face changed. “Why are you here?”

He looked panicked, but when Emily came in, he forced himself to calm down. “I already told you everything. If you want to confront Lydia, I’ll testify. Why bring her here? She’s an idiot. She doesn’t know anything.”

Emily calmly sat across from him. “She’s not clueless. Even if she’s slow, she knows that giving things to Lydia is the only way to get you back.”

Cale’s face suddenly shifted. He grabbed the woman’s wrist. “You gave the stuff to Lydia?”

The woman looked frightened and shook as she said, “No.”

Cale relaxed for a moment, but then his expression froze again. He turned his stiff neck and caught Emily’s half-smile. “Looks like you haven’t told me everything either.”

Cale shivered all over. Even though he’d been living comfortably, the mental scars from Emily’s earlier questioning hadn’t

gone away.

Seeing her expression now made him shake. He knew his trump card was about to be exposed. Still, he tried to get something out of it.

Lydia smiled coldly. “If you want to blame anyone, blame that you’re alive and blocking my fortune and honor. Only if

you’re dead can I be the Bennett Family’s daughter and the main lady of this world.”

Then she raised the dagger and stabbed hard into Yamilet’s stomach again. Before Yamilet died, she suddenly said, “Let me

tell you something kindly. Your daughter’s been dead for a long time. I just took over her body.”
