Chapter 231 Without any disruption
Renee regretted her decision to join the show without thoroughly checking the guest list.
She would have preferred another year of free classes at her alma mater over participating in this show.
“Miss Hudson, do you know her?” The host noticed Renee’s sudden change in demeanor.
“Yes, we have a personal issue,” Renee responded indifferently, locking her phone screen. She leaned back casually and added, “I’ll address the audience after her segment.”
Her intention was clear: she wanted to witness Vivian’s discomfort.
The host was left speechless by her frankness.
True to her word, Renee refrained from logging into T*****r until Vivian’s segment concluded.
Upon checking, she noticed a tweet from Damian mentioning her in a trending post.
Renee was puzzled.
Damian’s tweet read: “She is my friend’s wife. The speculation that she is my mistress is ridiculous! Reporters and bloggers, please don’t throw out unfounded words! Thank you!”
His words radiated a desperate plea for understanding.
It was apparent that netizens speculated about an affair between him and Renee.
Renee began to type a response. “Hello, everyone, I’m Renee. I’d like to address some concerns. Firstly, I am married, but not to Damian. He’s young; let’s not rob him of his chance to find love. Secondly, Ivan is busy with college entrance exams and can’t engage with his fans right now.
He’s been performing well, and I want to express his gratitude to all his supporters and friends. Thirdly, my husband isn’t a public figure and prefers to stay out of the limelight, so I’d appreciate it if the focus could be on my work. Thank you!”
After posting her message, Renee set her phone aside, choosing to ignore any further notifications. The prospect of spending five days with Vivian weighed heavily on her, casting a shadow over her mood.
The host, glancing at Renee, continued to monitor the online situation. Despite her presence, he seemed compelled to keep abreast of the latest developments.
Renee’s response effectively reduced the livestream’s viewership to four million, a number that continued to dwindle.
Meanwhile, T*****r was abuzz with conversation.
“Ivan looked so stressed today. Clearly, the exams are taking a toll on him!”
“Top in video games, but no escape from the college exams! Having an accomplished sister–in–law must add to the pressure.”
“I think Renee’s husband warned Damian…but that’s just speculation.”

“I love how she refers to her husband. They must be a close couple.”
“Who is her husband, anyway? An older man, maybe over fifty?”
“Yuck, no way. Damian calls him ‘friend‘, so he can’t be that old.”

If Renee were to continue following online chatter, she’d notice there was always someone casting aspersions on her character.
Upon landing in Glostin, Renee headed for a private island near the coast, where the event would take place. She was to travel there by yacht from the dock.
At the wharf, she was the third guest to arrive.
From afar, she spotted a familiar face.
“Sarah! Why are you here?” she exclaimed, rushing over to embrace her warmly.
Sarah revealed her role in the program,
“I’m a top–tier auctioneer and an expert in collectibles!” Auctioneering and connoisseurship were niche professions, demanding not just a keen aesthetic sense and deep knowledge of collections but also substantial resources to acquire such expertise.
It was a field where talent and wealth were equally crucial.
“Why didn’t you mention you were coming?” Renee inquired.
“I replaced another guest,” Sarah admitted. “I was concerned about you dealing with Vivian, not about being bullied, but more about being repulsed by her,” she added in a lower tone.
Curious, Renee asked, “How did you manage to replace someone?” She faintly remembered that the Curtis family wasn’t connected to anyone in the entertainment world.
Sarah touched her nose, answering, “Marvin helped me.”
With his extensive connections, Marvin was aware of Renee’s participation in the show and offered Sarah the opportunity to join.
Though Sarah was hesitant to involve herself with Marvin, her concern for Renee prevailed. “Another guest is Darrell Vargas,” Sarah disclosed.
“The close friend of Andrew?”
“Yes. I’ve also heard he’s been pursuing Vivian recently.”
Renee was speechless. Alas, another individual was about to trouble her.
She should have been more diligent in reviewing the guest list for the event!
“Hello, Miss Hudson. I’m Tobias Valdez. I’ve heard quite a bit about you!” At that moment, a suave man with curly hair approached.

“Hello, Mr. Valdez,” Renee greeted, shaking his hand.
Tobias, a fashion designer, was a rising name in the industry. However, his accolades paled in comparison to Renee’s.
As Tobias was about to continue, Renee’s phone rang. It was Marcelo.
“Excuse me,” She said to Tobias before stepping away to take the call.
“You’ve arrived?” Marcelo’s voice came through.
“Did you check my schedule?” Renee asked, noting his awareness of her whereabouts.
Marcelo didn’t deny it, instead gently inquiring, “Are you upset?”
“No,” Renee told him.
There was no need for her to get upset over something so trivial.
She added, “However, you have to respect my privacy. You can’t investigate me anymore. Otherwise, I will get
angry.
“Alright.”
As Marcelo replied, his eyes were glued to the photo sent by his informant within the program’s crew.
Dressed in a long red dress, Renee strolled down the dock, capturing his attention with her stunning appearance.
“Take care.” After a moment’s pause, he added, “Call if you run into any trouble.”
His words sounded a little strange to her.
After a brief pause, Renee snapped back to reality, her expression subtly changing. “Marcelo, are you asking me to call you every day?”
Her voice carried a soft, playful, and sweet tone.
Marcelo tightened his grip on the pen, nearly breaking it.
“Just reach out if you need help,” he insisted, refusing to admit it.
“Sarah is also part of the program. If anything comes up, we can handle it together,” Renee said, a sly smile playing on her lips.
When Sarah was suddenly mentioned, she looked at Renee in confusion.
“Sarah is there too?” Marcelo asked with a frown.
He sounded like he was talking about a love rival.
Renee smiled and replied, “Yes! If all you want is a daily call, that’s fine.”
“You are doing this on purpose.” He saw through her teasing and gritted his teeth.

She understood what he was getting at!
“Why would I do that on purpose?” Renee refused to admit guilt. “If you want a daily call, just say the word. As your wife, I’m here to fulfill your wishes.”
The catch was he needed to be more direct.
A brief silence lingered on the phone.
For some reason, Renee felt a twinge of nervousness.
She understood Marcelo well. Despite his affectionate banter in bed, he was, in reality, a man of pride.
He didn’t want to explicitly make such a request, so he used this minor matter as an excuse.
She was determined to make him admit it!
Renee half–expected him to drop the topic.
But then he sighed, seemingly yielding.
“Fine, I’ll eagerly await Mrs. King’s call every day.”
A satisfied smile played on her lips as she replied, “Alright, I’ll make sure to keep you satisfied!” With that, she hung up the phone.
Sarah looked at Renee with a raised eyebrow, playfully pulling the corners of her mouth. “Renee, your smile is practically stretching from ear to ear! You are a married woman, for heaven’s sake! Show some restraint!”
“Is it that obvious?”
Trying to contain her smile, Renee patted her face. Despite her efforts, the twinkle in her eyes betrayed her true feelings.
“Well, you are dangerously close to announcing to the world that you are head over heels in love,” Sarah teased.
When Renee glanced around, she saw a few staff members discreetly looking at her.
Before she could react, a group of people approached from a distance.
When Renee and Sarah recognized those faces, the smiles on their faces faded.
“Hello, everyone! I’m Vivian. It’s a pleasure to meet you!”
Vivian was dressed in a striking white gown and adorned with an eye–catching sapphire necklace she had designed.
Her gaze scanned the crowd, eventually landing on Renee with a knowing smile.
It was obvious that she knew Renee was part of the show!
A tall and attractive young man stood beside her. His eyes, long and narrow, coupled with an unconsciously raised chin, exuded an air of arrogance.

Marcelo, too, had an arrogant air about him, but it was the kind that came with a sense of earned entitlement. On the other hand, this man seemed proud for no apparent reason.
“I am Darrell, a wine–tasting connoisseur,” he introduced himself, his tone dripping with superiority.
Tobias wasted no time in extending his greetings.
The Curtis family had faced financial turmoil, and in the past two years, Sarah’s fame had faded. Therefore, Tobias didn’t pay much attention to her. Instead, he warmly welcomed Renee, and now he was ingratiating himself with Vivian and Darrell.
Both Renee and Sarah shared an understanding of this guy. Tobias seemed adept at manipulation, and they were keen on keeping their distance from him!
In the KM group, Marcelo beckoned Luke over with a nod.
He ordered, “Look into the variety show Mrs. King participated in. What is Sarah doing there?”
Luke already knew the answer to this question.
As a top–notch assistant, Luke was always one step ahead and had already gathered intel on Renee’s activities.
