It all seemed like a sweet, dream-like moment just a little while ago.
Now, with her avoiding him and acting like she couldn't stand the sight of him, it felt painfully real.
The contrast was truly heartbreaking.
Remington looked a bit hurt, standing his ground by the door.
"Can't I just stay in the room?"
"No way! If Grandpa finds out I've gone all mushy and tangled up with you again, he'd probably book a private jet and fly over here instantly!"
Lizetta said, pushing Remington with more determination.
Clinging to the doorframe, he pleaded, "You take your call. I won't interrupt or make a sound."
It was his last stand.
The video call had been ringing for a while and suddenly ended on its own.
Lizetta let out a sigh of relief, only for the ringtone to erupt once more, sounding even more urgent.
Worried that her grandpa might be getting anxious, she didn't have time to deal with Remington anymore.
She gave him a warning gesture to keep quiet, then turned to the couch to answer the call.
"Grandpa, Grandma, are you missing me already?"
On the screen, two warm, loving faces appeared, beaming at her.
Lizetta's voice softened, instinctively slipping into a sweet, affectionate tone.
Remington quietly closed the door, brushing his fingers over his ear.
He turned and headed to the large bed opposite the couch, lounging back with his legs crossed, arms propped back on the bed, lazily watching her video call.
"Liz, sweetheart, why'd you take so long to answer? Where are you?"
Grandpa Nelson immediately noticed that the room Lizetta was in seemed a bit off.
Grandma Bernice, however, just cheerfully waved at Lizetta.
Since then, she hadn't mistaken Lizetta for Elsa Madden even once.
Grandpa Nelson said it had been two years since Grandma Bernice last had such a lucid moment, and he thought she'd never have one again. Yet, here they were...
Back in the present, Lizetta's heart skipped a beat as her grandma pointed out the telltale mark, and she instinctively shot a glare at the culprit sitting across from her.
Remington, noticing her flustered state, just raised an eyebrow, lounging comfortably.
Lizetta quickly looked down, trying to find the mark Remington had left on her neck.
Was it a bite mark?
She instinctively pulled at her collar to cover it, saying, "Oh, no, Grandma. I just tried a new body lotion yesterday, and I think I'm allergic to it."
Grandpa Nelson nodded, "Ah, I see. You should definitely stop using it then..."
Just as Lizetta was about to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking her grandpa believed her, Nelson Madden suddenly added.
"Liz, this place looks quite nice. Why don't you give us a little tour?"

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
