She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 106

Her husband had never treated her with such tenderness before. Did this mean he was finally accepting her?

A housekeeper soon brought lunch to the table.

Throughout the meal, Liana barely ate, instead fussing over Old Mrs. Harper and her husband, serving them portions of each dish.

“This sweet and sour fish is your favorite,” she said gently, offering some to Cyrus. “Try it—see if the chef got the flavor right.”

“And this hearty stew—I asked the cook to make it especially for you.”

Old Mrs. Harper watched her daughter-in-law’s attentiveness with genuine delight. “Don’t spoil him too much, dear. You’re so busy serving us, you’re forgetting to eat yourself.”

“Yes, Mom,” Liana replied sweetly, finally sitting down to eat.

“Do you like the food? Is it to your taste?” she asked Cyrus.

He nodded, murmuring a quiet agreement.

Even this small gesture from her husband filled Liana with gratitude.

He’d always been so cold to her before.

He suspected her—suspected that she was behind his daughter’s disappearance.

He was still investigating her.

And if she really had done it—so what?

He had no proof. There was nothing he could do to her.

Once that little wretch was out of the picture for good, his heart would come back to her.

Old Mrs. Harper, pleased to see them interacting, turned to Liana. “It must be lonely staying home alone. If there’s anything you’d like to do, or something you’re interested in, let us know. We could help you find something enjoyable.”

She wanted her daughter-in-law to get out more, to shine a little, so her son might notice her charms. A woman cooped up at home all day had no chance to see the world, to relax—or even to think about starting a family.
