“And another thing—I don’t want her showing up anywhere near Veridia. Anywhere else is fine, but make sure she suffers a little first before you send her off to North Myan. Got it?”
Liana’s voice was cold and final as she gave her last order. “Remember, don’t let her die easily.”
“Don’t worry, Liana. Leave everything to me.”
She hung up.
Liana took a moment to compose herself, smoothing out any trace of tension.
Then she smiled, stepped out of the room, and walked downstairs in high spirits. Today was shaping up to be a wonderful day.
She met Cyrus by the door, and the two of them left the villa together.
Not long after, Old Mrs. Harper followed, getting into a car with the driver. She was heading back to her own place for a while—to pick up a few changes of clothes. She planned to stay at her son’s house for a few more days, eager to keep a watchful eye on the young couple. If she didn’t stick around, her son would slip away at the first chance he got. And she was determined they’d give her a grandchild sooner rather than later.
March 18th.
A significant day.
Elsewhere, the high school was holding a round of exams. The morning’s test was English Literature.
Sabrina had taken the day off.
Kyson, the vice principal, had hesitated at first when the request landed on his desk. Sabrina was well known for her fierce independence. Still, after a moment’s thought, he signed the form. Besides, her uncle had even called on her behalf.
Once school let out, Sabrina made her way straight to the neighborhood around Liana’s villa. She’d pieced together the location from Yvette’s earlier descriptions—Yvette had been kept prisoner in the basement for weeks now.
March 18th was the day Liana planned to move her. She would bring Yvette out, then sell her on the black market.
Sabrina had debated waiting at the market, but the risk of something going wrong was too high. It was safer to watch the source directly.
She had a backup plan for both locations—Liana’s villa and the black market. Samuel had sent her a whole team, all under her command. At that moment, a dozen people were lying in wait outside the villa.
Just moments earlier, Sabrina had seen Liana and Cyrus drive away. Then Old Mrs. Harper left, too.
Now, apart from a few security guards and house staff, no one else was left inside.
