She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 154

Hector froze. “The York family? Bryce? Since when did those two get mixed up together?”

He felt like he was about to lose it. The York family held serious power in Veridia—not the kind of people you could mess with on a whim.

No wonder that woman was bold enough to threaten him; with a backer like that, she had nothing to fear.

“Yes, Hector. Bryce is looking into us.”

“Clean up everything. Make sure there’s nothing left behind that could bite us.”

“Yes, Hector.”

As soon as he hung up, Hector sank onto the couch, completely deflated.

He’d really done it this time. There was no way he could hold on to the Goldcrest District property now—he would have to let it go.

Without hesitating, he dialed another number.

His only option was to call his mother for help.

She would scold him, no doubt, but she’d never let him down.

Almost instantly, her voice came through the phone—sharp and scathing. Hector pulled the phone away from his ear and switched it to speaker.

No matter how much she ranted or cursed, he just let her vent, responding meekly to every accusation.

And, of course, he made sure to pin all the blame squarely on Sabrina’s shoulders.

“Mom, you have no idea how vicious that woman is. She set me up from the start… It’s my fault—I was too blind to see through her tricks. I know I’ve messed up big time, Mom. I’m too ashamed to face you or the family. I’m not worthy. Maybe it’s better if I just disappear, save everyone the embarrassment.”

He shot a meaningful glance at the bodyguard beside him.

The bodyguard, sharp as ever, immediately started shouting, “Sir, put down the knife! Please, don’t do anything rash—oh God, sir, you’re bleeding!”

On the other end, his mother’s tone shifted in an instant. Gone was the fury—now she sounded tense and frantic.

“Don’t do anything stupid, sweetheart! I’ll help you. Put down the knife, you hear me? Someone grab that knife from him, now!” Her last words were desperate, clearly directed at the bodyguard.

“Ma’am, there’s barely an hour left before the deadline. If we don’t pay up, they’ll go public with everything, and the whole world will know your son broke his word. That’s why he’s so upset…”

“Oh God, sir, you’ve cut your left hand—don’t cut the right one too! Please, let go! Madam, he says he’ll stop if you agree to wire the money.”

“You’re lying. No matter how much my mom loves me, she’d never agree to this. We’re talking three billion dollars, for God’s sake.”

His mother instantly demanded the phone back from the bodyguard.
