She’s Back, and Hell’s Coming with Her novel Chapter 192

Drawing on his memory of the drive over and the direction the two men had taken, Lennox pointed down a side street.

“This way, Yvette—come on! If we can just get somewhere with people around, we can find a police officer and get help.”

Yvette didn’t hesitate for a second. She took off running right behind Lennox.

There was heavy traffic on the roads, but neither dared flag down a car or linger anywhere too obvious. The last thing they wanted was to run into those two men—or anyone working with them.

Those men had definitely made a call back there. They must be rallying others to help search.

They walked for what felt like forever, until the sky began to fade toward dusk.

When they spotted a bridge up ahead, they ducked underneath without a moment’s hesitation.

It wasn’t the cleanest spot, but it was hidden—and, right now, safety was all that mattered.

This area was deserted. There weren’t any houses around, just a scattering of warehouses. But the kids didn’t dare ask anyone here for help.

Despite how long they’d been walking, they hadn’t managed to leave the industrial district. Their legs just couldn’t carry them far enough, fast enough.

Yvette, exhausted, plopped down heavily on the ground. Both kids were tough—neither of them cried.

“My mom will find us, Lennox. Don’t worry,” she said, her dirty face streaked from whatever grime they’d picked up in the warehouse.

Lennox reached out and gently wiped the dirt from her cheek. “Are you scared?”

“I was, at first. But with you here… you’re not scared, so I’m not either.”

He nodded. “We’ll beat those bad guys. Let’s rest a bit. When we’re ready, we’ll keep going. Once we get out of this place, we’ll find the police soon.”

In busy areas, there were always emergency call boxes and officers patrolling at night. Right now, the only people Lennox truly trusted were the police.

Yvette dug into her small backpack and pulled out a couple of bread rolls, handing one to Lennox.

“I grabbed these from the box earlier. We should eat something—if we’re going to keep moving, we’ll need our strength.”

Lennox fished out a few more snacks from his pocket, along with two bottles of yogurt.

“I snagged these from the warehouse, too,” he admitted with a sheepish grin.

For the first time since their kidnapping, the two kids managed a real laugh. At least they had food and something to drink.
