The Sutton household was livelier than usual today.

As evening approached, more and more guests arrived, filling the estate with the sound of laughter and conversation.

Sabrina made her way to Octavia’s room in the quieter wing of the house.

“Grandma,” she greeted softly.

Octavia glanced up, a playful glint in her eye. “Sabrina, what brings you here? You should be getting yourself ready for the party—go meet the guests, don’t sneak in here hoping for a treat.” Though her words sounded like a scolding, her tone was nothing but doting.

Sabrina smiled and walked closer. “I’m all dressed. It’s just… this is my first time attending a party like this. I guess I’m not really used to it yet.”

She didn’t say she was nervous.

She didn’t say she disliked it.

She just said she wasn’t used to it.

Octavia reached out and took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “It’s alright, darling. I’ll be with you tonight. There will be plenty more parties like this in the future—you’ll get used to them, and you’ll make new friends along the way.”

Suddenly, Octavia seemed to remember something. “Will that friend of yours—the one who’s good with medicine—be coming tonight?”

Sabrina knew exactly who she meant: Stella.

She’d texted Stella a few days ago, and Stella had promised she’d come.

Sabrina didn’t have many friends—besides Stella, there was only Jocelyn. And then there was Bryce, but he was more of a business associate than a true friend.

She had really hoped Jocelyn could come to the party and bring Jenna along, the three of them together. But it was impossible.

Tonight, with so many people around, the Harper family would surely recognize Jocelyn. And Jenna and Lennox too.
