Stella, worried Sabrina might get fooled by Bryce, started talking faster.

“Listen to me, Sabrina. You really can’t let him trick you. The York family is… complicated. You’re not cut out for that world. You’ll only end up getting hurt.”

“You’re beautiful, smart, and capable—he doesn’t deserve you. He—”

“Mm-mm—!”

Before Stella could finish, Bryce clapped a big hand over her mouth.

“Hey, don’t talk nonsense, Stella. If you want to warn Sabrina, fine—but do you have to badmouth me to my face?”

Bryce was genuinely worried that if Stella kept going, he’d start doubting himself.

Stella pried his hand off and gave him two hard punches.

“Maybe if you didn’t act the way you do, I wouldn’t have to say it!”

“Alright, alright, that’s enough,” Sabrina said, exasperated as she watched the two bicker. “Bryce and I are just business partners, nothing more. Stop making things up!”

These two were a handful.

The Walker family and the York family were both prominent old-money clans in Crowncrest City. Stella and Bryce had known each other since childhood.

Stella couldn’t stand Bryce’s laid-back, irresponsible attitude.

Bryce was equally annoyed by Stella’s tough-as-nails, tomboyish ways.

So, basically, whenever these two were together, it was instant fireworks. Neither could tolerate the other, and yet their bond was rock solid. Sure, they argued all the time, but when it really mattered, they always had each other’s backs.

Bryce even looked out for Stella like a big brother sometimes.
