Chapter 1014
Richard said evenly, “We’ll terminate all cooperation with the Walton family as quickly as possible. As for the shareholders, I’ll handle them myself-you don’t need to worry. Rest assured, no matter the cost, our family will sever all ties with the Walton family.”
Richard’s depth of calculation far surpassed that of Rick and his three sons. To anyone else, his words might have sounded reassuring-even moving.
Moments ago, Rick and Silas had lamented the heavy losses such a decision would bring. Richard’s firm declaration now painted him as a decisive, principled patriarch willing to bear any price.
But when the cooperation would end-or whether it truly would-was another matter entirely.
Sharon was no longer the naïve girl who once longed for her family’s affection. To her, Richard’s promises were nothing more than empty rhetoric.
She smiled faintly. “Internal company matters are indeed complicated to untangle. Since you’ve said so, Dad, I won’t make things difficult for you. Why don’t we start by issuing a public statement-declaring that the Kalen family will terminate all cooperation with the Walton family? The rest can be handled in due course.”
She paused, her tone gentle but edged with quiet sharpness. “Dad, after what Jamie did to me, surely our family doesn’t intend to continue partnering with him… does it?”
“How could we?” Richard’s face hardened. “A man like him deserves no leniency.”
He turned toward Jamie, his gaze cold and full of disgust. “Jamie, you denied it before. Now, what else do you have to say for yourself?”
Wendy frowned.
The evidence was irrefutable. There was no room for argument.
What was the point of asking him?
That question was nothing more than an opening-an invitation for Jamie to defend himself.
A chill spread through Wendy’s heart.
