John ground his teeth. “But Sharon is his own daughter. How could he be so heartless toward her?” 

Kenneth sighed. “Richard has no shortage of children. And Sharon didn’t grow up by his side, so there was never much affection to begin with. And remember-many wealthy families value profit over sentiment. Richard, most of all. Back then, Shayla stayed loyal to him and held the company together for years, but the moment he regained his memories, he couldn’t wait to drive her out of Kalen Group.” 

John’s lips parted as if to argue, but no words came. He knew his father was right. 

Kenneth continued, “I didn’t call you here so you could stew over how unfair things are for Sharon. With your current position, there’s nothing you can do to help her. And, for now, she doesn’t need your help.” 

A faint, approving smile curved his lips. “This time, Sharon handled things beautifully. You should learn from her-see how she’s managing to face not one, but two family heads on her own. When this is over, the Kalen Group’s stock will certainly fluctuate, but that chaos might be her best chance to step into the Kalen Group. 

“If it weren’t for Richard and his sons’ incompetence, even as his biological daughter, she would still be seen as an outsider—and likely face open rejection from everyone in the company. But now, by shaking the company’s foundation, she’s exposed their weakness for all to see. 

“You can’t catch a wolf without sacrificing the sheep. A person can’t have it both ways. Sharon understands this better than anyone. If she hesitated now-worried about Kalen Group’s losses-she’d only make herself an easy target for Richard and his sons later. After this, they’ll think twice before daring to mistreat her again.”
