Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 470

Chapter 470

Maybe it’s true, there’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who’s completely absorbed in what she loves.

Carter’s gaze remained fixed on Sharon. His eyes were sharp and impossible to ignore. But Sharon never once looked back at

him.

As the conversation continued, Kelly started to feel thirsty. “Nate, could you grab us some water?”

Nate had been bored to tears during the entire discussion, stifling yawn after yawn. Now, hearing Kelly’s request, he seized the chance like a drowning man clutching driftwood.

“Sure. I’ll go get it. You two wait here.” He turned to Carter. “Carter, they’re talking shop. We’d only be in the way. Come with

me?”

Carter nodded slightly and followed him.

By the time Sharon and Kelly had wrapped up the discussion, more than ten minutes had passed. Sharon closed the music sheets. “If that’s all, I’ll head to rehearsal now.”

The sky had fully darkened.

A chill wind blew in from the lake, brushing strands of her hair into the air. The water, once serene and glassy in the daylight, now looked black and bottomless.

Then Kelly said gently, “Sharon, you saw it just now, didn’t you?”

She looked at Sharon with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “No matter what happens, Carter will always be on my side. He’ll never forgive anyone who hurts me.”

Sharon’s expression didn’t waver. “I’ve known how much Carter cares about you for a long time. There’s no need to flaunt it.”

Kelly continued, “Even in the event of the car accident, Carter chose to believe me. And when he found out the truth, he still

didn’t blame me. He never held me accountable.

“You’re no different from that pianist earlier. If I want to replace you, Carter will drop you without a second thought.

“Oh, and I’ve already moved into your new studio.” She smiled smugly. “You see? Anything I want… Carter will find a way to give it to me.” 1

She paused. Her smile widened just a touch. “Even… your guest performers.”

Sharon looked directly into her eyes and, all of a sudden, smiled.

“Kelly, you think far too highly of yourself. Carter cares about you, yes. But love you? I’m not so sure.

“After all, when I was pregnant, he could’ve asked me to get rid of the child. But he didn’t. He married me instead. And he certainly didn’t stay faithful to you.”

Kelly’s pupils contracted, her voice dropping to a thin, icy sneer, “You’re right. I may not be as important to Carter as his career.”

Her tone was so soft, it felt like a thread pulled too tight.

“But I only need to be more important than you.’

She suddenly grabbed Sharon’s wrist, a strange smile playing on her lips. Her eyes gleamed with provocation and arrogance.

“Do you believe me, Sharon?” she whispered. “No matter what I do… Carter won’t blame me. Even… if I made sure… you died.”

The moment the words left her mouth, she shoved Sharon hard.

Splash!

A violent splash tore through the quiet as Sharon fell into the freezing lake.

And then came Kelly’s voice-startled, breathless, feigning panic.

“Oh my god! Sharon! How did you fall into the lake?!”

Carter and Nate came running at the commotion. Carter’s face went pale the moment he processed the scene.
