Carter fell silent for a few seconds before finally speaking. “Maybe… you just slipped and fell by accident.”

Sharon hadn’t intended to argue with him at length, but in this moment, she suddenly grew curious-just how far was Carter willing to go to excuse Kelly?

She asked, “So you mean to say I can’t even tell whether I was pushed into the lake or fell in by accident?”

“Maybe when you slipped, Kelly tried to grab you, but in that split second, you misunderstood and thought she pushed you. It was a chaotic moment. Misjudging what happened wouldn’t be impossible.”

While they spoke, Nate had already pulled Kelly from the water.

Nate, wiping water from his face, added furiously, “She’s a murderer! I’m reporting her to the police! Let her rot in prison!”

Sharon stood calmly in place, not the slightest hint of panic on her face.

Nate sneered, “Keep pretending you’re calm. Once you’re inside the police station, you won’t even have time to cry.”

Kelly turned to Carter, tears still streaming down her cheeks. “Carter, she’s humiliated me again and again. I let it slide in the past, for your sake, and for Theo’s. But this time, she clearly meant to kill me!”

Her voice cracked with emotion as her tears flowed faster.

“You saw what she did just now. This time, I won’t back down again!”

Carter’s eyes lingered on Kelly’s tear-streaked face. “Kelly, your concert is coming up. It’s not the time for any public controversy. If rumors start about discord between you and your composer, it could affect the whole event.”

Kelly stared at him, stunned. “Carter… You think I’m the one causing trouble?”

A shadow flickered across Carter’s eyes. “I’ll make her… apologize to you.”

Before Kelly could reply, Nate snapped.

“Apologize? Are you serious? She pushed Kelly into the water! That’s attempted murder. And you want to settle it with a measly apology? You saw what she did to me too. She slapped me right across the face!”

He could still feel the sting burning on his cheek.

Sharon finally spoke, “No need to worry. I won’t apologize to either of you. If you think this is unfair, go ahead and call the police.”

With that, she took out her phone.

“Oh, and by the way… I recorded my entire conversation with Kelly just now. So we’ll see who’s really guilty of attempted murder.”

Kelly’s expression froze instantly. Her already pale face turned even whiter.

“You… what did you say?”

Sharon swept her gaze over the group.
