Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 488

Chapter 488

Damien had no interest in continuing the conversation. He said, “If you have the time to talk to me about this, you’d be better off figuring out who that woman really is, and whether she deliberately approached Grandpa.”

Seeing his cousin shift the subject, Cole didn’t press the issue any further.

Backstage, Sharon received a call from Uriah.

“Sharon, a lot of old friends showed up today. I’m swamped over here, so I probably won’t make it in time to see your performance. Just stick to the program we finalized. Once the show’s over, I’ll introduce you to those old geezers.”

Even over the phone, Sharon could hear the noisy chatter in the background.

“All right, don’t worry about us,” she replied. “I’ll handle everything on this end.”

After hanging up, Sharon glanced at the time and began organizing the lineup.

“John, you’ll open with a solo.”

John was well known-perhaps not to all the elderly guests, but having him open the concert was a gesture of respect for the performance.

However, John didn’t respond immediately. He just stared off into the distance, lost in thought.

He hadn’t been himself lately. Even during rehearsals, he’d been making frequent mistakes, something that had never happened before.

Was he still unable to move on from what happened last time?

Just as Sharon was trying to make sense of his state, Casey returned. 1

She had included Casey in this performance as well.

Both Casey and John played the violin, as did Matty. Having too many violin performances back-to-back could easily lead to audience fatigue.

Luckily, with Casey on board, Sharon decided to insert her piano piece as a transition.

Uriah had supported the idea, encouraging her to take full charge of the arrangement.

Though this was just a charity performance for the elderly, for Sharon, it was her first official public appearance. She was taking it seriously.

And from what she’d heard from Sharon and Wendy, Uriah seemed to be just a retired alternative medicine doctor who wanted to give something back by organizing a performance for left-behind seniors before his full retirement.

He’d even spent most of his life savings renting such a grand venue for the event.

But it wasn’t until she spotted Damien earlier that she began to suspect something.

Damien came from an exceptionally well-off family. If not for her unwavering support during his lowest point, his parents never would have accepted her.

With a background like his, could there really be some connection to Uriah?

After hearing this, Sharon and Wendy exchanged a look.

Sharon said, “I’ve helped out at Uriah’s place for quite a while, but I’ve never once seen any of his family members.”
