Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Wendy thought for a moment. “Maybe Damien is a distant relative of Uriah? Or… maybe he came along with his grandparents?”

It was entirely possible that Damien was indeed related to Uriah. But ultimately, it didn’t concern them much.

Sharon lowered her voice and asked, “Casey, will you be okay during the performance?”

Casey quickly nodded her head. “I’ll be fine, Sharon, don’t worry. I won’t let anyone distract me again.”

Although Sharon was technically her boss, the two of them usually interacted more like friends.

Sharon smiled and gave her a reassuring nod.

An hour before the banquet began, Nate arrived at the venue with his parents.

Before handing over the invitation, Nate’s father, Karl, glanced nervously at the security guards in front of him.

He still couldn’t believe that the prestigious Malcolm family had actually sent an invitation to the Hendricks family, personally inviting them to this banquet.

The invitation even named Nate specifically.

At first, Karl thought it was a prank and called to confirm it himself, only to find out it was all real.

The Malcolm family had truly invited them.

Though he’d spent decades navigating the treacherous waters of the business world, Karl couldn’t help feeling anxious now. After all, the guests attending this event were all from the highest circles of society.

Compared to a family like the Malcolms, the Hendricks family was nothing.

The security guard scanned their invitation and smiled politely. “You may enter.”

Karl exhaled quietly, barely perceptible to anyone else.

It wasn’t until they entered the grand ballroom that Nate’s mother finally relaxed. Gone was the usual elegance she carried herself with-her every word and gesture now tinged with cautious restraint, as if terrified of accidentally offending some powerful figure she didn’t recognize.

She whispered, “We’ve never had any ties with the Malcolm family. Why would they invite us to something like this?”

Nate couldn’t hide the pride in his voice. “I heard Carter and Kelly were invited too… Since Uriah is in Amstern City now, it makes sense he’d show the Biggs family some respect by inviting Carter.”

He paused, then added with visible smugness, “And as for Kelly, she’s no ordinary woman anymore. She’s Maestro Warner’s student. Her status is completely different now. She’s far more distinguished than your average socialite.”

The banquet hall was bustling with unfamiliar faces, most of whom the Hendricks family didn’t recognize. Karl didn’t even dare approach anyone to greet them casually.

Nate scanned the crowd, searching for Carter and Kelly.

And then, he froze.

His pupils constricted as he spotted a figure he recognized.

He rubbed his eyes hard, thinking he must’ve imagined it. But no, he was certain. It was Sharon.

But how had she managed to get in?

Before they left home, Karl had warned him in no uncertain terms not to cause any trouble at Uriah’s banquet.

Nate knew he’d been impulsive before-too hot-headed for his own good. He had already told himself to keep it together tonight, no matter what happened.

But just then, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Carter entering the venue and suddenly everything clicked.

He stormed over to Sharon, his voice sharp with accusation. “Sharon, you’ve really got no shame! You actually followed Carter here? Do you even know what kind of place this is? And you think you belong here?!”

Hearing the familiar voice, Sharon paused mid-step. She turned, surprise flickering across her face as her gaze landed on Nate.

What was he doing here?
