Chapter 534
“Why don’t you all stay at my place tonight? There’s plenty of room,” Xavier offered.
Sharon exchanged a glance with Wendy.
Leaving the man alone in a hotel wasn’t ideal. He probably wouldn’t agree to it.
But bringing a complete stranger into her own home? That wasn’t something she was comfortable with either.
Xavier’s suggestion was the perfect solution.
She gave a slight nod. “Thank you, Xavier. Sorry for the trouble.”
With Wendy accompanying her, the three of them headed to Xavier’s family estate for the night.
After settling the man into a guest room, Sharon walked into the living room.
Xavier had just ended a phone call.
“Any news?” she asked.
A subtle change flickered across his expression. “My assistant confirmed that guy, Thomas, wasn’t on the guest list for Uriah’s birthday banquet. No one knows who he is.”
“No one?” Sharon frowned. “Did you ask Uriah?”
“I did. He said he’s never met the man, nor did he invite him. As of now, we have no leads. His identity is a complete mystery.”
Sharon’s gaze darkened slightly.
Xavier added, “I’ve already sent people abroad to investigate, but with so little to go on, I’m afraid it’s going to take some time.”
Sharon let out a quiet sigh. “It’s my fault. I was distracted that night… I didn’t notice him right away.”
Xavier poured her a glass of water. “Did the doctor say whether his memory might return with treatment?”
She shook her head. “They said taking him to familiar places might help jog his memory. But… we don’t know where’s familiar
to him.”
A thought crossed Xavier’s mind. “Why not ask Uriah? With his medical expertise, he might be able to help.”
Sharon’s eyes lit up. “Good idea. I’ll take him to see Uriah tomorrow.”
Then, something occurred to her. She hesitated before asking, “Xavier… did you already know who Uriah really was?”
Xavier hadn’t shown the slightest surprise about Uriah’s true identity. He hadn’t even questioned her about it.
He gave a low chuckle. “Are you upset I didn’t tell you?”
She shook her head, smiling. “Of course not.”
If their positions were reversed, she might not have said anything either.
After all, knowing in advance wouldn’t necessarily have helped her. On the contrary, not knowing had allowed her to treat the old man naturally, without any sense of burden. Xavier’s silence had been thoughtful.
A faint curve lifted Xavier’s lips. A flicker of appreciation danced in his eyes.
Dealing with smart women was always easier. And he liked smart women best.

“You stole the spotlight at the banquet,” he continued. “Now that you have Uriah backing you, the Biggs family probably won’t make any reckless moves…. for now. But knowing Madeline, she’s likely scheming something behind the scenes.
“And then there’s Kelly… Back then, Uriah told Carter she wasn’t sick, but he refused to believe it. With Uriah’s true identity now exposed, Carter might start to doubt her condition.”
Sharon responded calmly, “Honestly, I hope he finds out…but only after he marries Kelly.”
Xavier let out a soft laugh. “You think he plans to marry her? I’m not so sure.”
Sharon lifted the glass in front of her and took a sip.
“If he didn’t plan to, he wouldn’t have given her our wedding in the first place.”
That prompted Xavier to recall something.
“By the way, I saw Carter speaking to Victoria at the banquet.”
