Chapter 556
Thomas stopped and turned to look at Nate. “Were you calling me?”
Nate nodded, frowning. “What are you doing here?”
Thomas’s striking appearance was unforgettable-Nate recognized him immediately. He clearly remembered that Thomas had arrived yesterday with Wendy and the others.
“I’m here to see a doctor,” Thomas replied, expressionless.
Nate eyed him from head to toe, skeptical. “See a doctor? What could you possibly be sick with?
You’re not here to cause trouble for Kelly because of Sharon, are you?”
Thomas replied lazily, “Not everyone has as much free time as you do, sir.”
With that, he turned and walked off.
Nate watched him leave, a strange feeling stirring in his chest. When he returned to the hospital room, Kelly was stunned at the sight of his bruised and swollen face.
“Nate, what happened to your eye?”
Just hearing the question reignited Nate’s anger.
Gritting his teeth, he growled, “I ran into some lunatic while I was out getting lunch. He started screaming at me, calling me the lover of his girlfriend. Before I could even get a word out, he punched me right in the face!
“Damn it, how could I let that slide? Of course, I chased after him. But the bastard ambushed me from the shadows, tripped me on purpose, and I fell face-first into the ground. He used the chance to make a clean getaway.”
His expression darkened. “If I hadn’t promised to bring your lunch back, I would’ve hunted that rat down myself.”
What he didn’t say was that he had fought back, but he’d been no match for the guy. And there was one detail too humiliating to mention, one that cut at his pride as a man: The sneaky bastard had kicked him squarely in the groin.
Even now, the pain made him grit his teeth. He couldn’t even walk properly.
Never one to let things slide, Nate had already called Julliard to help track the guy down.
Kelly’s face froze for just a moment.
Thomas had told her earlier that his people would stall Nate. Could this attack have been Thomas’s doing?
Most people, if they wanted to delay someone, would spill a drink on them, stop to ask directions, or steal something.
But Thomas? His idea of stalling was a full-blown assault. The way his mind worked… was definitely not normal. 1
Nate now looked utterly pathetic, like a beaten dog. There wasn’t a trace left of his usual air of a privileged heir. Even when he’d done time in prison, Kelly had never seen him look this wrecked.
As she drifted in her thoughts, Nate’s voice pulled her back to the present.
“Kelly, here’s your lunch. Eat up first. I’ve got something to take care of. I’ll be back later.”
With that, he left in a hurry.
He needed to get himself checked out-fast. What if something had been permanently damaged? He couldn’t stand the thought of ending up impotent… (1

After leaving the hospital, Thomas headed to Sharon’s studio.
That morning, Wendy had driven him there and familiarized him with the location. She had also handed him a bank card so he could buy anything he needed.
When Thomas entered the studio, he saw a young woman he didn’t recognize sitting at a piano, playing. To his surprise, she was playing First Love-his favorite piece.
Thomas raised an eyebrow.
Was this song really that popular now? You could hear it everywhere?
Sensing someone nearby, Casey looked up. When she saw the strikingly handsome man who had just stepped through the door, she paused, slightly startled
“Sir, can I help you?”
Thomas smiled. “I’m here for work. Is Wendy or Sharon in?”
