Side Chick Era Over (Sharon and Carter) novel Chapter 579

Chapter 579

“If the Biggs family loses Theo again, I will take this to court and file for a change in custody.”

Without waiting for Carter’s response, Sharon turned and walked away without looking back.

Sharon was indeed very busy. Not only was she preparing for her upcoming concert, but she also had to attend various performances and competitions.

That day, at the venue of one such competition, she spotted Kelly. There were only a handful of truly prestigious music competitions in the industry, so encountering Kelly here wasn’t particularly surprising.

As soon as others noticed Kelly, hushed murmurs rippled through the crowd.

“Hey, isn’t that Kelly? She’s competing too?”

“I heard Maestro Warner personally recommended her. She doesn’t even need to go through the preliminaries.”

“She’s Warner’s student? Well, I guess we don’t stand a chance.”

“Good grief! Why do these ridiculously talented contestants show up every single year?”

Kelly stood beside Maestro Warner, speaking with the event’s coordinator.

Sharon gave them a brief glance before calmly looking away.

In certain competitions, if a renowned maestro vouched for a student, they could bypass the preliminaries altogether. In rare cases, some could even enter the finals directly.

It might seem unfair, but for the mentors, such endorsements came with heavy responsibility. If their recommended student was easily defeated, it wouldn’t just discredit the student, it would also tarnish the mentor’s reputation.

So, unless special circumstances forced a late registration, most respected mentors wouldn’t make such referrals lightly.

Apparently, Kelly had missed the registration window and was only now signing up-just in time for the preliminary round. But with Warner’s recommendation, she could skip that and proceed straight to the main competition.

This was a high-stakes contest, held only once every three years. Even with a powerful mentor, skipping the preliminaries was as far as most could go. As for entering the finals directly? That was virtually unheard of.

The finalists from this event would go on to participate in an international showcase-an elite platform for cultural exchange

with top musicians from around the world. This international stage received significant attention and was widely seen as one of the fastest paths to fame and recognition.

In recent years, the music scene in Zachemaine had been in decline. During team competitions, it was only thanks to John’s consistent scores that they avoided ranking dead last. John’s popularity had skyrocketed precisely because of his standout performance in this very event.

However, John wouldn’t be competing this year. He had promised his father that after completing his concert tour, he would return home to the Westin family.

He once told Sharon, “Sharon, with you competing this year, I can finally step away without worry.

I never managed to win either the individual or team championships. You have more talent and strength than I ever did. I truly believe you’ll take the crown.”

He paused awhile, then added, “I also heard Victoria will be representing Marcentine in this competition. This is her chance to make a name for herself on the international stage.

“Sharon, you must win. Win, and show the Kalen family what a terrible mistake they made by casting you out and putting all their hopes on her.”

For Sharon, the preliminaries posed little challenge. After the round concluded, she stepped out of the competition room.

At some point, the skies had turned gloomy. It looked like rain was imminent. No sooner had she gotten into her car than heavy drops began to hammer against the windshield.

The venue was located in a remote suburban area. But before she could even leave the outskirts, her car’s engine suddenly stalled.

She tried restarting it several times, but the ignition wouldn’t catch. Frowning, she grabbed an umbrella from the back seat and prepared to check under the hood.

Outside, the wind howled and the rain lashed down in sheets. The umbrella proved utterly useless. Within moments, she was

soaked to the skin.

Just as she lifted the hood, a car approached from a distance and came to a stop beside her.

The window rolled down slowly, revealing a strikingly handsome face.
