Chapter 103
“This afternoon, Shane came back, and Declan too. They both looked terrible and kept snapping at the servants.”
“I felt it might have something to do with you, so I opened the study door to eavesdrop… Wilfred is just inhuman… I should have gone to be with you yesterday.”
Patricia’s voice choked, and as she spoke, her emotions collapsed:
“Yesterday was your last day of the cooling–off period. I wanted to go to Opal Heights to find you, but Shane wouldn’t let me leave… But just because he wouldn’t let me out, does that mean I couldn’t go? It’s not like I don’t have legs… If I had been with you, Wilfred wouldn’t have had the chance.”
“From now on, I won’t listen to Shane anymore. If he won’t go back with me to see Grandpa, I’ll
go alone. If Grandpa asks, I’ll just say I’ve gotten divorced too…”
Josephine called Patricia’s name twice before Patricia finally calmed down a little.
“Tricia, I’m really fine now. Don’t provoke Shane, or you’ll get yourself into trouble.”
“I’m not afraid.”
“I am!”
Josephine meant it.
She was afraid that before she could clean up her own mess, Patricia would get dragged into
the mire.
Then Wilfred and Shane, each with a woman in his arms, would laugh at the two sisters for being reckless…
Patricia sniffled. “Okay, I’ll listen to you. Don’t worry about me either.”
Josephine hung up, took a moment to compose herself, placed the order, added fresh juice,
and went home.
She was feeling a little down and needed Natalia, her little ray of sunshine, to cheer her up.

When the doorbell rang, Josephine put down her phone and hurried to open the door.
But in the video doorbell, it was only Zachery standing there.
Zachery was holding a bouquet of flowers in his arms.
Well, not a bouquet, to be precise–just a single flower.
A classic black–centered sunflower, its head large and bright yellow, surrounded by two layers of big white petals.
Josephine couldn’t help but smile and said politely, “You didn’t have to bring flowers just for coming over!”
Zachery laughed and said, “Isn’t emotional value all the rage these days?”
“Then why did Dr. Maynard bring just one flower instead of a whole bouquet?”
“Because my vision is narrow–I can only hold one flower.”
One person…
Zachery didn’t say it out loud, but handed the flower to Josephine.
Josephine had no idea how beautiful her smile was as she accepted the flower.
It was a joy she couldn’t hide, her smile reaching all the way to her eyes.
It was reflected in the deep, dark eyes of a certain man.
There was a hint of shyness, allure, and utter enchantment!
“Thank you. But, where’s Natalia?” Josephine asked, seeing that Zachery was lost in thought.
Zachery snapped back to reality, only then realizing his heart was beating a little fast, with a tingling, numbing sensation.
He looked away from Josephine’s face, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he said:
“She’s upstairs. She doesn’t want to come down.”
When Natalia was abroad, she was cheerful and sunny.
But after returning home, she seemed less happy.

“Didn’t you tell her I ordered her favorite scallion mushroom chicken wings?”
Of course, Josephine knew that if she had said, “I made her favorite scallion mushroom chicken wings myself,” it would have worked even better.
But unfortunately, she couldn’t cook.
Still, she was good at coaxing children.
Back when she was raising Belinda, she had listened to all sorts of expert parenting courses.
But Belinda was immune to both soft and hard tactics.
Now, though, those skills could be used to coax Natalia.
Josephine put the flower in the entryway and said, “I’ll go invite her myself.”
Natalia was staring blankly at her children’s camera and fingerprint ring.
When she heard the doorbell, her heart skipped a beat, and she grabbed her things and ran to
